Vertical full-colour micro-LEDs via 2D materials-based layer transfer

Jiho Shin et al.

Summary: Researchers have developed a full-color, vertically stacked micro-LED (mu LED) with the highest array density and smallest size reported so far. This was achieved using a two-dimensional materials-based layer transfer technique, enabling the growth of RGB LEDs with submicron thickness on two-dimensional material-coated substrates, followed by stacking and top-down fabrication. This technology not only opens up new possibilities for full-color mu LED displays in augmented and virtual reality applications, but also provides a generalizable platform for other three-dimensional integrated devices.

Efficient and Stable Perovskite White Light-Emitting Diodes for Backlit Display

Shuxin Chen et al.

Summary: High-quality backlit display requires color-converting materials. Metal halide perovskites (MHPs) with full spectral tunability and high color purity have shown potential in wide-color-gamut display. However, naked MHPs suffer from stability issues. In this study, amorphous-glass-protected CsPbX3 quantum dots (QDs) were prepared, which showed high photoluminescence quantum yields (PLQYs) and stability. The CsPbX3@glass QDs were used to construct white light-emitting diodes (wLEDs) and a prototype display device with vivid and wide-color-gamut features.

Strong enhancement of red photoluminescence from Eu doped Ga2O3 films by thermal annealing

Yafei Huang et al.

Summary: In this study, Eu doped Ga2O3 thin films were prepared and the influence of thermal annealing temperature and ambient on their optical and structural properties was investigated. The results showed that annealing in an oxygen ambient at 600 degrees C significantly enhanced the red luminescence of Ga2O3:Eu. Higher Eu concentrations in the films also led to stronger photoluminescence enhancement, providing a method to suppress concentration quenching. This study has potential implications for the development of highly efficient red light-emitting devices based on Ga2O3:Eu films.
