Transparent and electrically tunable electromagnetic wave absorbing metamaterial

Yang Liu et al.

Summary: This study has realized a transparent and electrically tunable wave-absorbing metamaterial for stealth technology and electromagnetic protection. The main part of this material adopts a sandwich structure consisting of two layers of indium tin oxide (ITO) and one layer of glass in between. The wave-absorbing performance of the material can be electronically tunable by changing the applied voltage, and it has a wide effective operating frequency range. The metamaterial also has excellent electromagnetic shielding effectiveness.

Rational design and fabrication of optically transparent broadband microwave absorber with multilayer structure based on indium tin oxide

Yao Xiong et al.

Summary: A transparent multilayer metamaterial absorber (MMA) with broadband microwave absorption characteristics based on Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) has been designed and fabricated. By adjusting the resistance of ITO and the structural parameters, the microwave absorption properties can be controlled and achieve more than 90% absorption in the frequency range of 2.64-18 GHz. The microwave attenuation mechanism, angle-sensitive properties, and visible light transmittance were investigated, and the experimental and simulated results are consistent, indicating the potential application of this absorber in transparent microwave absorption.

Microtopography-Guided Chessboard-like Structure for a Broadband Terahertz Absorber

Tong Li et al.

Summary: A chessboard-like structure for broadband absorption in the terahertz frequency is proposed in this study. The structure consists of alternate distribution of Ti and Si materials in the plane, and exhibits high absorption in the terahertz range. A microtopographic substrate-guided method is proposed for the fabrication of the absorber, which is low-cost and high accuracy. Experimental results show that the proposed absorber achieves high absorption rates in the terahertz range, meeting the requirements for applications in electromagnetic stealth, terahertz imaging, and sensing in the future.
