Readiness Factors for Sustainable Lean Transformation of Construction Organizations

Summary: Despite extensive research and development in lean construction, sustained lean transformation remains uncommon. This study aims to identify the factors necessary for successful lean transformation in construction organizations. Utilizing a mixed methods approach, 73 factors were initially identified and then validated by a team of lean experts. These factors were ranked based on importance, with support from top management, understanding customer requirements, team-working emphasis, critical data analysis, and constraint removal identified as the top-ranking lean readiness factors. This study opens up new research directions for evaluating lean readiness and ensuring the sustained lean transformation of construction organizations.

Safety climate in construction: a systematic literature review

Summary: This study provides a systematic literature review of construction safety climate in terms of its definition, measurement, antecedents, and consequences. Findings show that there is no consensus on the definition and measurement of construction safety climate, and little attention has been given to its antecedents and underlying mechanisms. The influential authors in this field are identified, and questionnaire and safety behavior are the keywords most closely related to safety climate. The study also presents potential research directions and methods to support the development of construction safety climate.

Exploring the Factors That Influence the Work-Family Interface of Construction Professionals: An Indian Case Study

Summary: The objective of this paper is to explore the dynamic factors and develop a model of the work-family interface (WFI) of construction professionals in South India. Data were collected using questionnaires distributed among the professionals, and SPSS was used for data analysis. The study identified personal satisfaction, work-family balance, stress, and work culture as significant factors influencing the WFI. The findings provide important insights for improving the work environment and work-life balance of construction professionals in India.

Summary: The correct planning of investment costs and effective monitoring of implementation process are important in the management of investment projects. This research aimed to determine the shape and course of cost curves for selected construction projects and developed a procedure to forecast cumulative costs using envelopes and cost curves. Mathematical formulas and graphs were used to analyze different construction projects and determine the best-fit curves and areas for correct planning of cumulative costs.

Group-Level Safety Climate in the Construction Industry: Influence of Organizational, Group, and Individual Factors

Summary: Group-level safety climate is a leading indicator of safety performance in the construction industry. This study examines the collective influence of multilevel factors on group-level safety climate. The results show that organizational-level safety climate, coworker support, and supervisory safety-specific transformational leadership significantly contribute to group-level safety climate. Additionally, supervisory safety-specific transformational leadership and coworker support positively affect individual psychological capital, and psychological capital moderates the relationship between supervisory safety-specific transformational leadership and group-level safety climate.
