High temperature resistant polymer gel as lost circulation material for fractured formation during drilling

Yingrui Bai et al.

Summary: A cross-linked polymer gel system with high-temperature resistance was prepared for lost-circulation control during drilling. The gel exhibited excellent gel strength and viscoelasticity, as well as salt-resistance. The performance of the gel in controlling lost circulation varied on fractures with different widths and roughness.

Synthesis and Mechanical Properties of Polyacrylamide Gel Doped with Graphene Oxide

Hai-Peng Zhang et al.

Summary: Polyacrylamide/polyethyleneimine gels doped with graphene oxide were prepared and their structure and properties were systematically studied. The graphene oxide nanosheets were found to act as a multi-functional cross-linker and effective reinforcing nanofillers, enhancing the strength of the gels. The graphene oxide also allowed for adjusting the gel strength and gelation time, exhibiting characteristics of a weak gel.

High density bromide-based nanocomposite gel for temporary plugging in fractured reservoirs with multi-pressure systems

Hu Jia et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a novel high-density bromide-based nanocomposite gel (HDGEL) for multi-pressure fractured reservoirs, which can be used in combination with high-density kill fluids. The gel, weighted by sodium bromide, is cross-linked by covalent bonds and has adjustable density, temperature resistance, pumpability, and breakability. It shows promising results in temporary plugging of fractures without the need for a gel breaker.

Gel properties and network structure of the hydrogel constructed by iota-carrageenan and Ala-Lys dipeptide

Yu-Qiao Wang et al.

Summary: The gel properties of hydrogel formed by Ala-Lys dipeptide and iota-carrageenan were investigated in this study. Addition of Ala-Lys dipeptide transformed iota-carrageenan from liquid to gel state and increased the storage modulus significantly. The study provided insights into the potential applications of this new gel in the fields of food industry, tissue engineering, and drug delivery.

Preparation and properties of magnesium oxysulfate cement and its application as lost circulation materials

Kai-Xiao Cui et al.

Summary: The study developed a fast setting, high strength, and acid-soluble magnesium oxysulfate (MOS) cement to reduce drilling fluid losses, with significant plugging effect. Adjusting the composition ratio and adding retarders like boric acid and borax to MOS cement can effectively block different diameter and width loss zones, facilitating future oil and gas production.
