Chemical resistant silver nanowire/cellulose nanofibril flexible transparent conductive coatings

Jia-Sheng Tang et al.

Summary: A coating method is developed to produce chemical resistant transparent conductive films (TCFs) by mixing ultrasonicated cellulose nanofibers and silver nanowires (AgNWs). The resulting coating shows low sheet resistance, high transparency, excellent adhesion, and remains conductive under harsh conditions. Cross-linking with citric acid further enhances the chemical and mechanical stability of the TCF, making it suitable for optoelectronic applications.

Low-Temperature and Water-Based Biotemplating of Nanostructured Foam-Like Titania Films Using ss-Lactoglobulin

Julian E. Heger et al.

Summary: This study presents an environmentally friendly and sustainable synthesis route for nanostructured foam-like crystalline titania films. By utilizing a biotemplating method and low-temperature spray deposition, a pearl necklace-like nanostructure is introduced into the titania films. The results show that the titania crystallization is promoted at a low temperature of 120 degrees C, and the obtained crystallites have an average grain size of (4.2 +/- 0.3) nm. In situ grazing incidence small-angle and wide-angle X-ray scattering experiments are performed to understand the kinetics of film formation and the role of the biotemplating method.

Biopolymer-Templated Deposition of Ordered and Polymorph Titanium Dioxide Thin Films for Improved Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering Sensitivity

Qing Chen et al.

Summary: This study reports a novel strategy of utilizing cellulose nanofibril (CNF) as a template to fabricate TiO2/CNF thin films with tailored morphology and crystallinity for enhanced SERS sensitivity. By combining atomic layer deposition and thermal annealing, polymorphous TiO2/CNF thin films with defined morphology were achieved, showing a high enhancement factor in semiconductor metal oxide nanomaterial (SMON)-based SERS substrates. The improved SERS sensitivity is attributed to the cooperative modulation of CNF template morphology and TiO2 crystalline state.

Uniform Deposition of Silver Nanowires and Graphene Oxide by Superhydrophilicity for Transparent Conductive Films

David W. Fox et al.

Summary: Superhydrophilic surfaces were utilized to achieve uniform deposition of one-dimensional (1D) and two-dimensional (2D) nanomaterials for high-performance transparent conductive films. The rapid wetting of suspensions on superhydrophilic surfaces suppressed the coffee-ring effect, leading to the formation of a uniform network with low sheet resistance and high percent transmittance. Furthermore, conformal coating with Au stabilized the film against oxidation and provided mechanical stability during subsequent aqueous processing, such as spray-coating of GO films.

An environmentally-friendly sandwich-like structured nanocoating system for wash durable, flame retardant, and hydrophobic cotton fabrics

Dongqiao Zhang et al.

Summary: A sandwich-like structured nanocoating system was developed in this study to provide natural polymer fabrics with flame retardancy and wash durability through various interactions. The concentration of bPEI in the coating system affects the wash durability of the fabrics, with higher concentrations leading to better wash durability but also potentially sacrificing flame retardant performance. The systematic evaluations post washing demonstrate that the coating system can maintain a balance between wash durability and flame retardancy.
