Recent progress and perspective in additive manufacturing of EMI shielding functional polymer nanocomposites

Amirjalal Jalali et al.

Summary: Due to the rapid development of the electronics industry, there is a high demand for novel materials in electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding. Conductive functional polymer composites, which utilize additives such as graphene and carbon nanotubes, have shown promising electrical and EMI shielding performance. Additive manufacturing (AM), or 3D printing, has been increasingly used to fabricate complex components in various industries, including EMI shielding materials for sensors, supercapacitors, and flexible electronics. This review introduces different 3D printing methods for the fabrication of EMI shielding polymer nanocomposites, discusses the effects of the AM process on material functionality, and explores the influence of nanofiller type and amount on microstructure and performance. Future prospects and recommended areas for further study are also outlined.

Fabrication of lightweight and biodegradable EMI shield films with selective distribution of 1D carbonaceous nanofiller into the co-continuous binary polymer matrix

Krishnendu Nath et al.

Summary: In this study, a facile method for preparing conductive binary biodegradable polymer nanocomposite films is reported. These films are based on ester-based thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and poly (butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT), and the acid-functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotube (MO) is preferentially incorporated into the PBAT phase of the binary polymer matrix through solvent mixing technique.
