Risk Assessment of Pesticide Residues by GC-MSMS and UPLC-MSMS in Edible Vegetables

Mohamed T. Selim et al.

Summary: In recent years, there has been a significant increase in pesticide residues in foods, posing a potential risk to consumer health. This study aimed to determine the presence of 137 pesticide residues in 801 vegetables using the QuEChERS method combined with GCMSMS and LCMSMS. The results showed that certain pesticides, such as acetaimpride and metalaxyl, were frequently detected in the samples.

Pesticide and Adjuvant Mixture Impacts on the Physical-Chemical Properties, Droplet Spectrum, and Absorption of Spray Applied in Soybean Crop

Rafael Marcao Tavares et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the impact of mixing pesticides and herbicides with different adjuvants on the physical-chemical properties, droplet spectrum, and absorption by soybean plants. The results showed that the spray mixtures were physically compatible, but the absorption of azoxystrobin by soybean plants varied depending on the different combinations, suggesting caution should be taken when mixing these chemicals.

Pyraclostrobin Removal in Pilot-Scale Horizontal Subsurface Flow Constructed Wetlands and in Porous Media Filters

Georgios D. Gikas et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effectiveness of two pilot-scale constructed wetlands and six gravity filters in removing pyraclostrobin from polluted water. The results showed that constructed wetlands performed better in removing the fungicide compared to gravity filters. The feeding strategy also affected the removal efficiency of pyraclostrobin in the gravity filters.

Dissipation Residue Behaviors and Dietary Risk Assessment of Boscalid and Pyraclostrobin in Watermelon by HPLC-MS/MS

Le Lv et al.

Summary: This study investigated the terminal residues of boscalid and pyraclostrobin in watermelon and evaluated the dietary risk. The results showed that the residues of both fungicides were below the maximum residue limits recommended by EFSA. The evaluation indicated a low dietary risk to consumers.

Zinc nanoparticles: Mode of action and efficacy against boscalid-resistant Alternaria alternata isolates

Anastasios A. Malandrakis et al.

Summary: The antifungal potential of ZnO-NPs against Alternaria alternata isolates with reduced sensitivity to the succinate dehydrogenase inhibitor (SDHI) boscalid was evaluated. ZnO-NPs effectively inhibited mycelial growth, especially when combined with boscalid. The study found that zinc ion release and nanoparticle properties interfering with cellular ion homeostasis mechanisms may contribute to the fungitoxic effect of ZnO-NPs, and ROS production may also play a role.

Chemical factors affecting uptake and translocation of six pesticides in soil by maize (Zea mays L.)

Feiyan Wang et al.

Summary: The uptake of six residual pesticides by maize in soil is influenced by their physicochemical properties, especially the octanol/water partition coefficient. The accumulation amount is positively correlated with adsorption coefficients and pesticide concentration in in situ pore water, while the root bioconcentration factor is influenced by log K-ow and molecular weight, and the translocation factor is affected by log K-ow and water solubility.
