Functional interpretation, cataloging, and analysis of 1,341 glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase variants

Renee C. Geck et al.

Summary: Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency affects a large number of individuals and can lead to anemia when exposed to certain stressors. The World Health Organization (WHO) has called for a revision of G6PD variant classification in order to implement genetic medicine in low-and middle-income countries. By analyzing a large number of G6PD variants and using interpretation guidelines, researchers have created a repository of information on G6PD variants and improved the interpretation of these variants for the implementation of genetic medicine.

Technical Report: Diagnosis and Management of Hyperbilirubinemia in the Newborn Infant 35 or More Weeks of Gestation

Jonathan L. Slaughter et al.

Summary: This article aims to update the clinical practice guideline for the management of hyperbilirubinemia in newborn infants >= 35 weeks' gestation. The article presents revised recommendations based on the latest evidence, suggesting raising phototherapy treatment thresholds and limiting the use of IVIG.
