Single-crystalline nanoflakes assembled CuS microspheres with improved sodium ion storage

Hui Qi et al.

Summary: In this study, CuS microspheres assembled by single/poly crystalline nanoflakes were successfully synthesized and their sodium ion storage abilities were tested. The results showed that the CuS microspheres assembled by single-crystalline flakes exhibited superior electrochemical performance due to their highly ordered crystal lattice and complete structure integrity. Compared with poly-crystalline structure, the single-crystalline flakes showed an enhanced diffusion rate of sodium ion, leading to excellent rate performance. The structural integrity of the single-crystalline flakes also resulted in high mechanical strength and long cycling stability for CuS microspheres.

Synthesis and application of a novel self-smart sensor based on a modified amino-functionalized Zr-metal-organic framework for rapid and selective detection of some toxic metals in wastewater

Mohamed A. El-Bindary et al.

Summary: In this study, a simple optical luminescence smart sensor based on metal-organic framework material with high oxidation state central metal (Zr4+) was developed for the selective detection of Fe3+, Pb2+, and Co2+ ions in water. The sensor's optical and fluorescence intensities were regulated by the ligand-to-metal charge transfer effect. Various spectroscopic techniques were used to confirm the structure of the sensor, and its efficiency in detecting industrial wastewater was evaluated.

Sesamol can inhibit the formation of glycidyl ester in deep frying palm oil

Lipeng Han et al.

Summary: Sesamol can effectively inhibit the formation of glycidyl ester (GE) in fried food, with a stronger inhibitory capacity compared to TBHQ. By inhibiting oil hydrolysis and oxidation, sesamol can prevent the formation of GE. In the frying process, a concentration of 0.10% sesamol is sufficient to inhibit the formation of GE.

Magnesium-Based Micromotors as Hydrogen Generators for Precise Rheumatoid Arthritis Therapy

Cong Xu et al.

Summary: Hydrogen therapy is a promising strategy for inflammation-related diseases, but its efficacy is limited due to nonpolarity and low solubility. A biocompatible magnesium micromotor coated with hyaluronic acid was developed as a hydrogen generator, showing great potential for rheumatoid arthritis therapy by producing hydrogen bubbles for motion and scavenging reactive oxygen species and inflammation. Through ultrasound-guided intra-articular injection, the micromotors effectively relieved oxidative stress, reduced inflammation cytokines, and ameliorated joint damage, showing prominent therapeutic efficacy.
