Summary: Collaborative perception in unknown environments is critical for multi-robot systems. We propose MR-GMMapping, a mapping system that uses GMM submaps for relative localization to reduce data transmission and storage. Experimental results show improved precision in relative pose estimation and significant reduction in data transmission.

Summary: In this study, we propose a new real-time LiDAR-only odometry method called CT-ICP, which introduces combined continuity and discontinuity for improved scan matching accuracy and robustness. A complete SLAM system is built on top of this odometry, utilizing a fast pure LiDAR loop detection method for precise localization. Testing on multiple datasets demonstrates the stable and reliable performance of the proposed method.

Summary: To address the challenges of traditional tree-based neighbor search and the inefficiency in dealing with ground points parallel to LiDAR beams, a novel efficient LiDAR odometry approach is proposed, utilizing both non-ground spherical range images and bird's-eye-view maps. Additionally, a range adaptive method is introduced to estimate the local surface normal robustly, and a fast and memory-efficient model update scheme is proposed to fuse points and their corresponding normals at different time-stamps. Extensive experiments on the KITTI odometry benchmark and UrbanLoco dataset show promising results, demonstrating the effectiveness of the approach.
