MoS2 quantum dot-decorated MXene nanosheets as efficient hydrogen evolution electrocatalysts

Huajie Huang et al.

Summary: In this study, a controllable assembly approach was proposed to construct a heterostructured nanoarchitecture using ultrafine MoS2 quantum dot-decorated Ti3C2Tx MXene nanosheets (MQDs/Ti3C2Tx). The resulting MQD/Ti3C2Tx catalyst exhibited superior hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) properties due to its remarkable structural features, homogeneous MoS2 distribution, optimized electronic structure, and good electron conductivity.

3D printing of Ti3C2-MXene-incorporated composite scaffolds for accelerated bone regeneration

Xue Mi et al.

Summary: Grafting bone-substitute biomaterials is crucial for reconstructing bone defects, but designing bioscaffolds for regeneration of critical-sized bone defects is challenging. Ti3C2 MXene is a promising candidate due to its biocompatibility, antibacterial properties, and osteogenesis promotion. Incorporating Ti3C2 MXene into composite scaffolds for bone regeneration shows great potential in clinical applications.

Formation of core-shell nanostructure through wrapping of cuprous oxide nanowires by hydrogen titanate nanotubes

Shyamapada Patra et al.

Summary: Heterojunction-based devices constructed through a bottom-up approach have attracted great interest due to their wide range of operation and application flexibility. This study demonstrates the bending and wrapping of hydrogen titanate nanotubes on pristine copper oxide nanowires. The wrapping and junction formation enhance the active surface area and reduce contact resistance. Further ion beam irradiation produces a large-scale network of hetero- and homo-junctions, resulting in a film surface with water repellency and higher electrical conductivity. First principles calculations and TRI3DYN simulation are used to explain the wrapping mechanism, bond formation, and conductivity changes.

Heterostructured bimetallic-sulfide@layered Ti3C2Tx-MXene as a synergistic electrode to realize high-energy-density aqueous hybrid-supercapacitor

Muhammad Sufyan Javed et al.

Summary: In this study, a heterostructured composite of nickel-cobalt-sulfide nanoflowers embedded in exfoliated Ti3C2Tx-MXene layers was proposed to enhance the energy density and electrochemical performance of aqueous hybrid supercapacitors (AHSCs). The composite exhibited remarkable pseudocapacitive performance and could operate in a wide potential range with high capacitance and stable cyclic life. The synergistic effect of NCS and MXene enabled the composite to deliver outstanding electrochemical performance for AHSCs.
