Nanosphere Lithography: A Versatile Approach to Develop Transparent Conductive Films for Optoelectronic Applications

Tengfei Qiu et al.

Summary: Transparent conductive films (TCFs) are indispensable in optoelectronic applications, and the development of new materials that combine transparency, electrical conductivity, and variable functionality is needed. Nanomesh TCFs, with periodic or irregular structures, have emerged as promising candidates with superior mechanical properties compared to traditional metal oxide TCFs. Nanosphere lithography (NSL) is a versatile platform for fabricating nanomesh TCFs, offering a wide range of materials with diverse functions and device compatibility. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the NSL process, structure-property relationships of nanomesh TCFs, and their applications in various optoelectronic technologies.

Investigation of Photonic-Crystal-Structured p-GaN Nanorods Fabricated by Polystyrene Nanosphere Lithography Method to Improve the Light Extraction Efficiency of InGaN/GaN Green Light-Emitting Diodes

Po-Hsun Lei et al.

Summary: The photonic-crystal-structured p-GaN nanorods were fabricated using a modified polystyrene nanosphere lithography method to enhance the light extraction efficiency of InGaN/GaN green LEDs. The optimal period, diameter, and height of the PC-structured p-GaN nanorods were found to be 150, 350, and 110 nm, resulting in a 41% enhancement of emission intensity in comparison to conventional LEDs under a driving current of 20 mA. The light output intensity and LEE of the LEDs with PC-structured p-GaN nanorods depend on the dimensions of the nanorods.

Breaking the symmetry of nanosphere lithography with anisotropic plasma etching induced by temperature gradients

Daniel Darvill et al.

Summary: A novel anisotropic process called plasma etching induced by temperature gradients (PE-TG) is reported, which is used to modify the 3D morphology of a polystyrene sphere array to obtain ordered nano mushroom arrays. The method allows easy tuning of mushroom features and can serve as templates for fabricating plasmonic structures for various applications like molecular sensing and SERS.
