P. Soumya Menon et al.

Summary: Pristine NiO and 2% Cr doped NiO nanostructures were synthesized successfully using the modified auto-combustion method. They exhibit nonlinear optical behavior suitable for fabricating efficient optical limiting devices. The third order nonlinear absorption coefficients confirmed their suitability for protecting human eyes and optical sensors from hazardous laser radiation under pulsed and continuous wave excitations.

Saturable absorption and reverse saturable absorption of CdGa2Se4 nanoparticles determined by bond strength

Xingcheng Xiao et al.

Summary: The nonlinear optical properties of selenide gallium-cadmium nanoparticles were studied using femtosecond open-aperture Z-scan technique. Saturable absorption and reverse saturable absorption were observed at different wavelengths, attributed to single-photon absorption and two-photon absorption, respectively. The band gap, determined by the bond strength of gallium and selenium atoms, played a crucial role in the nonlinear optical response. An empirical equation was proposed to estimate the band gap values and predict the nonlinear optical responses of this class of compounds at different wavebands.
