Catalytic potential of sustainable dinuclear (Cu2+ and ZrO2+) metal organic incorporated frameworks with comprehensive biological studies

Mohamed Shaker S. Adam et al.

Summary: Based on the coordination ability of dihydrazone derivatives, new homo dinuclear complexes (CuLss and ZrOLss) were synthesized using diisatin succinyldihydrazone ligand (H(2)Lss). These complexes exhibited good catalytic performance in the oxidation of benzyl alcohol and showed significant antimicrobial and anticancer activities. CuLss displayed stronger interaction with ctDNA compared to ZrOLss. Overall, CuLss and ZrOLss demonstrated higher reactivity and interaction potential than their precursor ligand H(2)Lss.

Photocatalytic removal of imidacloprid containing frequently applied insecticide in agriculture industry using Co3O4 modified MoO3 composites

Mohamed Shaker S. Adam et al.

Summary: Water pollution caused by pesticide use in agriculture is a major concern. Photocatalytic removal of pesticides using metallic oxide photocatalysts shows promise. In this study, Orthorhombic MoO3 modified with cobalt oxide was used to remove imidacloprid and imidacloprid-containing insecticides. The synthesized composites showed improved absorption properties in the visible light spectrum and reduced recombination of photoexcitons. The photocatalytic removal of imidacloprid and Greeda under natural sunlight irradiation achieved high removal rates (98% and 93%, respectively) using the 10% Co3O4-MoO3 composite.

Nanostructure Shape-Effects in ZnO heterogeneous photocatalysis

Helapiyumi Weerathunga et al.

Summary: Selective oxidation of alcohols is crucial for fine chemical production, and the photocatalytic oxidation of benzyl alcohol using ZnO nanocrystals was investigated in this study. Different shapes of ZnO nanocrystals displayed varying kinetics for the benzyl alcohol oxidation reaction, with nanocones showing the highest conversion rate. The {10 (1) over bar1} facet of ZnO was found to expose undercoordinated O atoms, leading to the highest adsorption of benzyl alcohol and ultimately resulting in 100% selectivity for benzaldehyde as the product.

Summary: This study investigated the interaction between Sofosbuvir and HCV NS5B polymerase using molecular modeling and computational methods. The results demonstrated that the tested compounds correctly bind to the active sites with good binding affinities. The substituents had a mild effect on the binding mode, with increased hydrophobicity leading to better binding affinities. Drug likeness and toxicity studies suggested that the examined derivatives have potential as safe drugs. Molecular dynamics simulations and energy stability studies further confirmed the stability of the compound.

A comprehensive review on the synthesis, characterization, and catalytic application of transition-metal Schiff-base complexes immobilized on magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles

Jamshid Rakhtshah

Summary: In the past decade, the synthesis of transition-metal Schiff-base complexes immobilized on Fe3O4 nanoparticles has attracted great interest. This review focuses on the key syntheses and catalytic potentials of magnetically recoverable nanocatalysts published from 2012 until now. The catalytic potential of these magnetic nanocatalysts has been tested in various processes, including alkenes epoxidation, sulfides oxidation, alcohols oxidation, aromatic alkyls oxidation, cross-coupling reactions, C-O coupling reaction, multicomponent reactions, trimethylsilylation of alcohols and phenols, alcoholysis of epoxides, reduction of nitrobenzenes, N-arylation of nitrogen heterocycles with aryl halides, and N-alkylation of amines. This review compares the use of heterogenized transition metal complexes with various imine bond bearing ligands in the catalytic processes. The advantages of this catalytic methodology include the easy separation of catalysts using an external magnet, simple recycling of catalysts without significant losses in performance, improved efficiency due to the nanoscale architecture of active centers, and better steric control of reaction intermediates.
