Corin is regulated by circ-0012397/miR-200a-3p and inhibits the oxygen-glucose deprivation-induced apoptosis of SHSY5Y neuroblastoma cells

Rui Yin et al.

Summary: The study found that corin was downregulated under oxygen-glucose deprivation conditions, leading to apoptosis of SHSY5Y cells. High expression of corin promoted cell proliferation and inhibited apoptosis by downregulating the expression of cleaved caspase-3, Bcl-2-associated death promoter, ERK, and p38, and upregulating the expression of Bcl-2. Furthermore, the study revealed that corin expression was regulated by circ-0012397/miR-200a-3p. Different expression levels of circ-0012397 and miR-200a-3p affected the regulatory effects of corin on apoptosis signaling-related proteins.

A Prediction Model for Rapid Identification of Ischemic Stroke: Application of Serum Soluble Corin

Ying Lu et al.

Summary: The study aimed to construct a diagnostic model for the rapid identification of ischemic stroke. A mixture population of patients with ischemic stroke, patients with hemorrhagic stroke, and healthy individuals were randomly resampled into training and testing samples. A diagnostic model was developed and validated using logistic regression analysis. Results showed that the diagnostic model exhibited good discrimination and calibration in both training and testing samples.

The natriuretic peptide system in heart failure: Diagnostic and therapeutic implications

Koichiro Kuwahara

Summary: Natriuretic peptides, such as ANP and BNP, are important in cardioprotection in heart failure by antagonizing the effects of angiotensin II, while CNP plays a role in regulating vascular tone and blood pressure. These peptides are also being studied for their potential as biomarkers and therapeutics in cardiovascular disease.

The protease corin regulates electrolyte homeostasis in eccrine sweat glands

Meiling He et al.

Summary: This study reveals an important role of corin in promoting sweat and salt excretion in eccrine sweat glands to maintain electrolyte homeostasis. Corin deficiency leads to reduced sweat and salt excretion, accompanied by enhanced ENaC activity affecting Na+ and water reabsorption. Treatment with an ENaC inhibitor can normalize sweat and salt excretion in corin-deficient mice, indicating the potential therapeutic implications of targeting corin for electrolyte imbalance-related disorders.
