Thermal transport and magnetohydrodynamics flow of generalized Newtonian nanofluid with inherent irreversibility between conduit with slip at the walls

Mohamed Boujelbene et al.

Summary: This study investigates the magnetohydrodynamic Jeffery-Hamel flow under an inclined Lorentz force through a non-uniform conduit with slip at walls, which is commonly used in various applications. The performance of two-dimensional purely radial flow in a converging-diverging channel for Carreau nanofluids is explored from the perspective of the second law of thermodynamics. By implementing rigorous theories and assumptions based on Buongiorno's model, the governing equations are transformed into a system of ordinary differential equations and numerically solved using a finite difference code. The presence of simple shear near the wall affects the flow configuration, leading to compression in the divergent region of the channel. Temperature profiles increase with a sophisticated heat source and Brinkman number. The minimum and uniform entropy is achieved with an optimal channel angle and velocity slip.

FEM treatments for MHD highly mixed convection flow within partially heated double-lid driven odd-shaped enclosures using ternary composition nanofluids

Sameh E. Ahmed et al.

Summary: This study examines the highly mixed convection caused by the movements of two perpendicular walls in odd-shaped enclosures. The upper and right boundaries are partially heated, and different heating situations and directions of lid-wall movements are considered. The inner medium is a heat generating and the Lorentz force is inclined. The mathematical formulations are based on the Brinkman-extended non-Darcy model, and the containers are filled with ternary composition nanofluids. The simulations reveal that the ternary composition nanofluids enhance the heat transfer rate by 17.65% compared to mononanofluids, and recommend locating the heat sources in the middle of the outer walls and setting Re >= 100 for the best mixed convection situation.

Bioconvective flow of a variable properties hybrid nanofluid over a spinning disk with Arrhenius activation energy, Soret and Dufour impacts

Sameh E. Ahmed et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the heat and mass transfer in hybrid nanofluids flowing over a spinning disk in the presence of oxytactic microorganisms. The impact of Soret and Dufour effects, as well as Lorentz force, are considered. The nanofluid used in this study is assumed to have time-dependent dynamic viscosity and thermal conductivity, and it consists of CuO and MgO nanoparticles in a methanol base. The results show that both velocity and temperature gradients increase with higher values of the unsteadiness parameter and nanoparticles concentrations, while the flow slows down with an increase in the temperature-dependent variable viscosity parameter.

Heat transport mechanism in glycerin-titania nanofluid over a permeable slanted surface by considering nanoparticles aggregation and Cattaneo Christov thermal flux

Khalid Abdulkhaliq M. Alharbi et al.

Summary: This research reports the thermal performance of Glycerin-titania nanofluid using a thermal conductivity model that considers the effects of nanoparticles aggregation and a continuum-based framework (CCTF) on a permeable slanted surface. The findings show that the addition of CCTF has a potential contribution to the thermal performance of the aggregated nanofluid. The temperature increases when the fluid is injected from the surface, but decreases due to strong suction. Moreover, the fluid particles reach their maximum velocity at the surface and exhibit asymptotic behavior far from the working domain.

Analysis of nano-encapsulated phase change material confined in a double lid-driven hexagonal porous chamber with an obstacle under magnetic field

Keltoum Herouz et al.

Summary: In this study, the magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) mixed convection of nano-encapsulated phase change material (NEPCM) in a double lid-driven hexagonal porous chamber was numerically investigated. It was found that when the two walls move in opposite directions, a circular flow is formed around the heated body, while thermal activity is enhanced when the upper and lower walls move in the same direction. The concentration of NEPCM particles has little effect on thermal transfer, and decreasing chamber permeability hinders suspension movement and reduces thermal energy transfer.

A novel model of non-linear radiative Williamson nanofluid flow along a vertical wavy cone in the presence of gyrotactic microorganisms

Sameh. E. E. Ahmed et al.

Summary: A novel mathematical technique is used to investigate the unsteady bioconvective flow of Williamson nanofluids over a vertical wavy cone with nonlinear radiation and viscous dissipation impacts. The cone surface is described by a sinusoidal function and the extra stress tensor components are presented in terms of the dynamic viscosity. The irregular wavy surface is related to the convective boundary conditions and nanoparticle passively controls conditions. The study reveals that increasing the Williamson number leads to a reduction in nanofluid flow and an increase in the skin friction coefficient. Additionally, enhancing the Nusselt number up to 75% is achieved by altering the Biot number and applying convective boundary conditions in the presence of nonlinear radiations to enhance velocity, temperature, and heat transfer rate.

Simultaneous applications of fins and nanomaterials in phase change materials: A comprehensive review

Ravinder Kumar et al.

Summary: The irregular nature of renewable energies like solar and wind requires the use of storage units to improve reliability and performance. Thermal energy technologies like solar thermal power plants and solar collectors use storage systems for thermal energy storage. Phase Change Material (PCM), known for its high heat capacity, is widely used in thermal systems. However, low thermal conductivity is a major disadvantage of PCMs, and techniques like nanomaterials and fins are suggested to address this issue. This study reviews the simultaneous applications of fins and nanomaterials in PCMs and finds that they have the potential to significantly improve phase change rate.
