Identification and classification of the flow pattern of hydrogen-air-steam mixture gas under steam condensation

Feng Liu et al.

Summary: This study combines experiments and numerical simulations to investigate the flow patterns of a multi-component gas mixture under various conditions. The formation mechanism of typical flow patterns is revealed and boundary conditions for flow pattern transitions are quantified. An empirical correlation is proposed to classify the flow patterns.

An experimental investigation of subcooled pool boiling on downward-facing surfaces with microchannels

Zhijie Gao et al.

Summary: Upward-facing pooling boiling enhancement employing micro-structure has been extensively studied, yet rarely applied in microgravity or nuclear industry. To solve the challenge of vapor removal and liquid replenishment without buoyancy force, this study introduced additional pressure induced by microchannels to achieve spontaneous bubble removal and liquid replenishment. Experimental results showed that channeled surfaces had a lower onset of nucleate boiling superheat and significantly improved heat transfer coefficients compared to plain surfaces. The proposed enhancement mechanism, which relied on separate vapor-liquid flow paths, demonstrated high and consistent heat transfer performance under various pressure conditions and even in downward-facing situations.

Numerical investigation of the condensation oscillation mechanism of submerged steam jet with high mass flux

Shilin Song et al.

Summary: This study numerically investigated the fluctuations in the interface and pressure of submerged steam jets. The results showed that interface fluctuation leads to unsteady flow of the gas-liquid interface and the pressure oscillation is closely related to the occurrence frequency of interfacial vapor clusters. The periodic fluctuation of the interface causes the oscillation of flow field pressure due to the compression and expansion waves inside the plume.

Experimental and theoretical investigation of the influence of heat transfer rate on the thermal performance of a multi-channel flat heat pipe

Valentin Guichet et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the thermal performance of a multi-channel flat heat pipe used for surface cooling applications through experimental and theoretical methods. A theoretical model considering the impact of the multi-channel geometry is proposed, and a number of two-phase correlations are compared and integrated into the model. The results show that the proposed model can predict the thermal resistance of the heat pipe accurately.

Summary: This paper investigates the effects of heating power and heat pipe length on the performance of a thermoelectric generator assisted by a heat pipe. The results show that increasing the heating power gradually increases the output power and power generation efficiency of the system, while increasing the heat pipe length decreases the thermoelectric performance.

A comprehensive experimental investigation of dynamic viscosity of MWCNT-WO3/water-ethylene glycol antifreeze hybrid nanofluid

Yanfang Zhu et al.

Summary: This laboratory study investigated the impact of temperature and volume fraction of nanoparticles on the dynamic viscosity of MWCNT - WO3 / water - Ethylene glycol nanofluid. The results showed that the viscosity increases with temperature at a constant temperature, but decreases with temperature at a constant volume fraction. A mathematical model was proposed to estimate the viscosity based on temperature and volume fraction, which was found to be accurate for the nanofluid.
