A magnetic field coupling fractional step lattice Boltzmann model for the complex interfacial behavior in magnetic multiphase flows

Xiang Li et al.

Summary: In this study, a magnetic field coupling fractional step lattice Boltzmann (FSLB) model is proposed for simulating complex interfacial behaviors in magnetic multiphase flows. The model accurately recovers the macroscopic governing equations and achieves second-order accuracy through the use of equilibrium and non-equilibrium terms obtained from Chapman-Enskog (C-E) expansion analysis. The method predicts intermediate variables by updating the moments of equilibrium distribution functions first, and then corrects the physical variables by updating the moments of non-equilibrium distribution functions.

Stochastic Failure Analysis of Reinforced Thermoplastic Pipes Under Axial Loading and Internal Pressure

Wang Yang-yang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of parametric uncertainties in production on failure tensile loads of reinforced thermoplastic pipes (RTPs) under combined loading conditions. The stress distributions in RTPs are analyzed using 3D elasticity theory, and the micromechanics of composites are evaluated analytically. A progressive failure model is established by combining 3D Hashin-Yeh failure criteria with a damage evolution model to evaluate the failure mechanisms of RTPs. The theoretical model is validated through numerical simulations and axial tensile tests. Randomness of relevant parameters is analyzed using the Monte-Carlo approach, and the stochastic analysis results are statistically evaluated using the Weibull probability density distribution function. The failure tensile load of RTPs fluctuates near the mean value due to the randomness of production parameters, and as the ply number at the reinforced layer increases, the dispersion of failure tensile load also increases, with a higher probability that the first-ply failure (FPF) tensile load of RTPs is lower than the mean value.

Oldroyd-B Nanoliquid Flow Through a Triple Stratified Medium Submerged with Gyrotactic Bioconvection and Nonlinear Radiations

Kotha Gangadhar et al.

Summary: In this study, the features of heat and mass transfer phenomena of a two-dimensional viscous fluid flow of Oldroyd-B nanofluid over a vertical stretched sheet containing gyrotactic microorganisms are analyzed theoretically. The effects of mixed convection, inclined magnetic field, and thermal radiation are considered, along with Joule heating and heat sink/source. Nonlinear system equations are obtained and solved numerically using the RKF-45 method. The results show that the velocity distribution decreases with relaxation time and thermal stratification parameter, while the motile density profile is enhanced by increasing bioconvection Rayleigh number and buoyancy ratio. These findings are relevant to bio-inspired nanofluid-enhanced fuel cells and nanomaterials fabrication processes.
