Diagnosis of malaria disease by integrating chi-square feature selection algorithm with convolutional neural networks and autoencoder network

Abidin caliskan

Summary: Malaria, a febrile illness caused by the parasite plasmodium, can be prevented and treated if diagnosed early. The World Health Organization aims to reduce global malaria incidence and death rates by 90% by 2030. This study used deep learning-based convolutional neural networks to train red blood cells for malaria diagnosis and obtained their deep features. These features were further trained with autoencoder networks and distinctive features were selected using the chi-square feature selection algorithm. A unique diagnostic model was proposed, achieving a 100% accuracy rate. These promising results have implications for malaria diagnosis.

Forecasting Electricity Demand in Turkey Using Optimization and Machine Learning Algorithms

Mustafa Saglam et al.

Summary: This study used mixed methods of MNN, WAO, and SVM to estimate the electricity demand for Turkey's mainland. Input data from 1980 to 2019, including imports, exports, GDP, and population data, were used to forecast the electricity demands up to 2040. The performance of these methods was analyzed using statistical error metrics, and it was found that MNN showed the strongest correlation between electricity demand forecasting and real data.

Particle swarm optimization algorithm with Gaussian exponential model to predict daily and monthly global solar radiation in Northeast China

Yue Jia et al.

Summary: Reliable solar radiation information is crucial for designing and managing solar energy systems in agriculture and industry. However, measurements are lacking in many regions, which hampers the development and application of solar energy. This study proposes a particle swarm optimization and Gaussian exponential model for accurately estimating solar radiation in Northeast China and compares it with other models. The results show that this method has the highest accuracy and is recommended for modeling solar radiation in the region.

A Comparative Assessment of Conventional and Artificial Neural Networks Methods for Electricity Outage Forecasting

Adeniyi Kehinde Onaolapo et al.

Summary: The reliability of the power supply depends on the reliability of the grid structure, which is prone to faults due to varying weather events. With the concern of increasing and severe weather events caused by climate change, it is important to explore predictive models for electricity outages caused by weather factors. This study presents a model using artificial neural networks to predict electricity outages caused by severe weather conditions and demonstrates their robustness compared to conventional models.
