Trends and Technologies in Rehabilitation of Foot Drop: A Systematic Review

Fady Alnajjar et al.

Summary: Foot Drop is a common symptom in post-stroke patients, but can also be seen in patients with multiple sclerosis and cerebral palsy. Rehabilitation methods include physiotherapy, surgery, and technological devices. Research has shown that both robot-based ankle-foot orthosis and Functional Electrical Stimulation devices significantly improve the gait cycle of patients, with future trends leaning towards integrating FES with other neuro-concepts for further advancements.

Senne Broekx et al.

Summary: This study provides an overview of intraneural ganglia in children, focusing on diagnostic workup and treatment, especially in cases of foot drop. Surgical decompression in children is associated with satisfactory motor recovery postoperatively. The importance of ligation and transection of the articular branch nerve to prevent recurrence of intraneural ganglia is emphasized.
