Serum total bilirubin and long-term prognosis of patients with new-onset non-ST elevation myocardial infarction: a cohort study

Yi Yang et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the potential predictive value of total bilirubin (TBIL) for long-term prognosis in patients with new-onset non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI). The results showed that higher levels of TBIL at admission may independently predict poor prognosis in NSTEMI patients. Additionally, TBIL was also associated with the severity of coronary lesions.

Skin advanced glycation end products as a diagnostic and monitoring tool among psoriatic patients: how the therapy helps reduce cardiovascular disease risk

Caterina Lanna et al.

Summary: The study found that Adalimumab treatment effectively reduced AGEs in psoriatic patients as measured by skin autofluorescence (SAF). Additionally, ESR, AGEs, PASI, and VAS pain scores decreased throughout the treatment period, indicating a positive effect on reducing inflammation and disease progression. The results suggest that biologic therapies like Adalimumab may have the potential to prevent cardiovascular diseases, highlighting a new approach for combined therapy for psoriasis and cardiovascular diseases.

Plaque-type psoriasis inhibitors

Saeideh Sadat Shobeiri et al.

Summary: Psoriasis is a common inflammatory skin disorder mediated by the immune system, affecting 1-4% of the world's population. Treatments include topical therapy, phototherapy, systemic drugs, and advancing options like biological drugs, bispecific agents, and small molecule drugs to provide patients with more treatment choices.

Metabolic syndrome and its factors are associated with noncalcified coronary burden in psoriasis: An observational cohort study

Meron Teklu et al.

Summary: The study revealed a significant association between metabolic syndrome and its factors with noncalcified coronary burden in patients with psoriasis. Individuals with metabolic syndrome had higher cardiovascular disease risk factors and systemic inflammation, highlighting the importance of increasing awareness and addressing metabolic syndrome in psoriasis patients to reduce cardiovascular risk.

Psoriasis: Pathogenesis, Comorbidities, and Therapy Updated

Naoko Kanda

Summary: Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease characterized by abnormal immune responses, hyperproliferation of keratinocytes, and comorbidities such as arthritis and cardiometabolic diseases. Recent research has uncovered potential biomarkers, therapeutic targets, and treatment options for psoriasis. Understanding the pathogenesis and treatment of psoriasis may lead to new approaches and therapies in the future.

Prevalence and severity of coronary artery disease linked to prognosis in psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis patients: a multi-centre cohort study

A. B. Tinggaard et al.

Summary: In this study, both psoriasis and PsA patients were found to have an increased prevalence of coronary calcification. Psoriasis patients also exhibited a higher prevalence of severe calcification. While psoriasis patients showed an elevated risk for cardiovascular events and mortality, this risk was no longer significant after adjusting for other predictors.

Challenge of Nail Psoriasis: An Update Review

Chao Ji et al.

Summary: Nail psoriasis is a refractory disease that affects a significant percentage of patients with skin psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. Treatment should be individualized based on the severity and extent of nail involvement, with topical therapies typically used for mild cases and biologic agents for severe or refractory cases. Further research and systematic review are needed to better understand and manage this complex disease.
