A radiomics nomogram prediction for survival of patients with driver gene-negative lung adenocarcinomas (LUAD)

Qi-Kun Guo et al.

Summary: This study investigated the prognosis of patients with driver gene-negative LUAD through the analysis of computed tomography (CT)-derived radiomics features and clinical characteristics, and explored potential molecular biological mechanisms that could guide individual postoperative care. The constructed prediction model based on radiomics and clinical characteristics showed better performance in estimating the overall survival of patients compared to the traditional staging system. Metabolism and immune-related pathways were found to be associated with prognosis.

NaPi2b expression in a large surgical Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer NSCLC cohort

S. Heynemann et al.

Summary: A retrospective analysis of NaPi2b expression among resected non-small cell lung cancer specimens revealed high expression in 34.5% of cases overall, with adenocarcinoma cases showing 65.9% high expression. High NaPi2b expression was associated with female sex, EGFR or KRAS mutation, TTF1 positivity, and improved overall survival. These findings suggest the potential of NaPi2b as a target for delivery of cytotoxic agents in lung adenocarcinoma patients.

Expression and Clinical Significance of lncRNA OSER1-AS1 in Peripheral Blood of Patients with Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Peirui Chen et al.

Summary: This study investigated the clinical significance of long non-coding RNA OSER1-AS1 in the peripheral blood of patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The findings revealed that low expression of OSER1-AS1 was associated with tumor metastasis and poor prognosis, and it had a higher diagnostic value for early detection of NSCLC.

Genetic ablation of pregnancy zone protein promotes breast cancer progression by activating TGF-β/SMAD signaling

Rohit Kumar et al.

Summary: The study revealed that genetic ablation of PZP results in tumor progression, and low expression of PZP is associated with poor survival of breast cancer patients.

Summary: Every year, the American Cancer Society projects the numbers of new cancer cases and deaths in the United States, with the latest data showing a significant decline in lung cancer mortality, while prostate cancer mortality has plateaued and breast and colorectal cancer mortality have slowed. Improvements in treatment have accelerated progress against lung cancer, leading to a record drop in overall cancer mortality.

Hypermethylation of the PZP gene is associated with hepatocellular carcinoma cell proliferation, invasion and migration

Minhua Wu et al.

Summary: The study found that Pregnancy Zone Protein (PZP) is highly methylated and poorly expressed in hepatocellular carcinoma, and inhibits the proliferation, invasion, and migration of HCC cells. These findings may provide a basis for exploring novel therapeutic targets for HCC.

Tumor-associated macrophages promote the metastasis and growth of non-small-cell lung cancer cells through NF-κB/PP2Ac-positive feedback loop

Zhan-Wen Liang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated that an inflammatory microenvironment accelerates the growth and metastasis of lung cancer, which is related to the role of tumor-associated macrophages and the downregulation of PP2Ac mediated by the NF-kappa B pathway.

Pregnancy Zone Protein (PZP) is significantly upregulated in the decidua of recurrent and spontaneous miscarriage and negatively correlated to Glycodelin A (GdA)

Sanja Loeb et al.

Summary: This study revealed significant changes in the expression of PZP and GdA in decidual tissue in patients experiencing spontaneous miscarriage and recurrent miscarriage, with a negative correlation between the two proteins. A balanced expression of GdA and PZP in the decidua appears crucial for successful ongoing pregnancy.

A novel five-gene signature predicts overall survival of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma

Zhigang Wang et al.

Summary: This study identified a five-gene prognostic signature for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) through analysis of gene expression data and validated its predictive value in independent datasets. The five-gene signature, combined with TNM staging, was found to be an independent prognostic factor for overall survival in HCC patients, improving prognostic prediction. Gene set enrichment analysis revealed distinct pathways associated with high and low risk groups based on this signature, providing further insights into HCC prognosis.
