Association Between Childhood Body Size and Premenstrual Disorders in Young Adulthood

Donghao Lu et al.

Summary: This study found that childhood body size is associated with the risk of PMDs and premenstrual symptoms in young adulthood, suggesting that maintaining a normal body weight during childhood may help lower the burden of PMDs in adulthood.

Evaluation of inflammation and follicle depletion during ovarian ageing in mice

Carolina Lliberos et al.

Summary: The decline in follicle numbers with reproductive aging in females is associated with an increase in intra-ovarian inflammatory markers and immune cell populations, while fibrosis levels remain unchanged. This suggests that inflammation may play a role in regulating follicle number as females age, but the role of fibrosis is unclear and further studies are needed to determine causative relationships.

Is Premenstrual Syndrome Associated with Inflammation, Oxidative Stress and Antioxidant Status? A Systematic Review of Case-Control and Cross-Sectional Studies

Dominika Granda et al.

Summary: The systematic review investigated inflammation markers, oxidative stress, and antioxidant status among women with PMS. Limited evidence suggested increased levels of inflammatory parameters and decreased antioxidant status in PMS women. However, insufficient data with inconsistent results made it impossible to formulate a firm conclusion on the contribution of oxidative stress in PMS occurrence. Further research with case-control design and large study groups is needed to better understand the role of inflammation, oxidative stress, and antioxidant status in the pathophysiology of PMS.

The Comparison of Physical Activity, Sedentary Behavior, and Mental Health between Early Menopausal Women and Age-Matched General Middle-Aged Women

Ji-Su Kim et al.

Summary: This study found significant differences between early menopausal women and general middle-aged women in moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) and light physical activity (LPA), but not in sedentary behavior. The early menopausal group had higher levels of perceived stress compared to the general group. Further longitudinal studies are needed to explore the mechanisms underlying the effects of physical activity, sedentary behavior, and mental health on early menopausal women.
