Dual Sub-Cells Modification Enables High-Efficiency n-i-p Type Monolithic Perovskite/Organic Tandem Solar Cells

Qin Yao et al.

Summary: This study uses an ionic liquid, methylammonium acetate (MAAc), and bathocuproine (BCP) to modify wide-bandgap perovskite sub-cells and small-bandgap organic solar cells. MAAc effectively heals the defects in the perovskite film, improving the energy conversion efficiency, while BCP acts as a space layer to prevent direct contact between ZnO and the organic bulk-heterojunction, mitigating efficiency loss. The integration of these modified sub-cells enables the fabrication of monolithic n-i-p structured tandem solar cells with a maximum PCE of 22.43%.

A molecular weight-regulated sequential deposition strategy enabling semitransparent organic solar cells with the light utilization efficiency of over 5%

Xuexiang Huang et al.

Summary: In this study, a molecular weight-regulated efficient sequential deposition (SD) strategy was employed to improve the performance of high-performance semitransparent organic solar cells (ST-OSCs) by balancing power conversion efficiency (PCE) and average visible transmittance (AVT). Narrow bandgap (NBG) polymer donors with different molecular weights were synthesized and the SD strategy was found to fine-tune the crystallinity and improve the compatibility of donors/acceptors. This led to a record PCE of 14.53% for the PCE10-2F/Y6 all-NBG materials-based opaque device. Optical simulations showed that the SD process optimized light transmission, resulting in a breakthrough PCE of 11.11-10.01% and a high AVT of 39.93-50.05% for the corresponding ST-OSC.
