Breakdown of the scaling relation of anomalous Hall effect in Kondo lattice ferromagnet USbTe

Hasan Siddiquee et al.

Summary: In this study, the authors report a large anomalous Hall conductivity in a Kondo lattice ferromagnet USbTe, which is dominated by intrinsic Berry curvature at low temperatures. However, the scaling relation derived from Fermi liquid theory does not hold for the Berry curvature induced anomalous Hall effect. The onset of the Berry curvature contribution is consistent with the Kondo coherent temperature. Combined with ARPES measurement and DMFT calculations, the results strongly suggest that Berry curvature is hosted by the flat bands induced by Kondo hybridization at the Fermi level. This highlights the need for new theories to explain the interaction between strong correlation and Berry curvature in anomalous Hall effect.

Impact of f-d Kondo cloud on superconductivity of nickelates

Byungkyun Kang et al.

Summary: By employing GW + dynamical mean field theory (DMFT), we have discovered the Kondo effect driven by the strong correlation of Nd-4f and Ni-3d electrons in superconducting nickelates at low temperature. The Kondo effect modifies the topology of the Fermi surface, resulting in a 3D multi-band nature. Remarkably, the Kondo effect is easily destroyed by lattice modulation, leading to a quasi-2D nature. Our findings could provide a new perspective for understanding the inconsistent occurrence of superconductivity and distinct electrical resistivity behavior between bulk and films of NdNiO2, suggesting the need for an experimental measure of the Fermi surface of bulk NdNiO2.

Orbital selective Kondo effect in heavy fermion superconductor UTe2

Byungkyun Kang et al.

Summary: Heavy fermion UTe2, which emerges from the collective Kondo effect, shows promising potential as a platform for next-generation quantum technologies. Our study reveals orbital selective electron correlation in UTe2, providing an explanation for the anomalous temperature dependence observed in recent experiments. Furthermore, we find that high pressure suppresses the Kondo effect, offering insights into the anisotropic quantum behavior of UTe2.

Doping evolution of the Mott-Hubbard landscape in infinite-layer nickelates

Berit H. Goodge et al.

Summary: The recent discovery of superconductivity in Nd0.8Sr0.2NiO2 has led to questions about the underlying electronic structure hierarchy. By using locally resolved electron energy-loss spectroscopy, the Mott-Hubbard character of Nd1-xSrxNiO2 was directly probed, revealing evidence of a multiband electronic structure in the superconducting infinite-layer nickelates.

Summary: Motivated by the discovery of superconductivity in infinite-layer nickelates, this study investigates the role of Hund coupling J in a quarter-filled two-orbital Hubbard model. The results reveal distinctive regimes of correlated metals, with one related to Mott insulator proximity. Defines criteria for characterizing these metals, establishing the existence of Hund metallicity in two-orbital systems.

Lattice-shifted nematic quantum critical point in FeSe1-xSx

S. Chibani et al.

Summary: In this study, the evolution of nematic fluctuations in FeSe1-xSx single crystals across the nematic quantum critical point was investigated using Raman scattering. The Raman spectra showed two components in the B-1g nematic channel, with one component displaying clear critical behavior attributed to itinerant carriers. The study also revealed a significant effect of nemato-elastic coupling on the nematic susceptibility, which resulted in a shift in the location of the nematic quantum critical point.

Orbital and spin character of doped carriers in infinite-layer nickelates

M. Rossi et al.

Summary: The discovery of superconductivity in Nd1-xSrxNiO2 has sparked interest in the field, particularly regarding how the electronic structure evolves with hole doping. Using x-ray absorption spectroscopy and resonant inelastic x-ray scattering, researchers investigated the doping-dependent electronic structure and found that doped holes are mainly introduced into Ni 3d states. Comparing the data to atomic multiplet calculations, they concluded that the features observed in the XAS are consistent with a d(8) spin-singlet state in the 3d(x2-y2) orbitals.

Strongly correlated doped hole carriers in the superconducting nickelates: Their location, local many-body state, and low-energy effective Hamiltonian

Zi-Jian Lang et al.

Summary: By studying the hole carriers in the new member of high-temperature superconductors, Nd0.8Sr0.2NiO2, it was found that the holes mainly reside in oxygen, similar to the cuprates. This unexpected result suggests a possible route to increase superconducting temperature and a quantum phase transition absent in cuprates.
