Computer-assisted mitotic count using a deep learning-based algorithm improves interobserver reproducibility and accuracy

Christof A. Bertram et al.

Summary: Computer-assisted mitotic count analysis significantly increased interobserver consistency and accuracy of prognostic stratification in canine cutaneous mast cell tumors, improving the detection of mitotic figures and reducing false negatives. The use of high-performance algorithms and pathologist review resulted in more reproducible and accurate mitotic counts in this study.

Deep Convolutional Neural Networks Detect Tumor Genotype from Pathological Tissue Images in Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors

Cher-Wei Liang et al.

Summary: In this study, four convolutional neural network models were established to predict drug-sensitive mutations from images of gastrointestinal stromal tumors. DenseNet201 achieved the highest accuracy of 87%, while AlexNet, InceptionV3, and ResNet101 had accuracies ranging from 75% to 86%. Cross-institutional inconsistency and the contributions of image color and subcellular components were analyzed.
