A Room-Temperature Spin-Valve with van der Waals Ferromagnet Fe5GeTe2/Graphene Heterostructure

Bing Zhao et al.

Summary: This article demonstrates the robust room-temperature operation of lateral spin-valve devices using the vdW ferromagnet Fe5GeTe2 in heterostructures with graphene. Spin-dynamics measurements reveal multidirectional spin polarization at the Fe5GeTe2/graphene interface. Density functional theory calculations and Monte Carlo simulations reveal significantly canted Fe magnetic moments in Fe5GeTe2 along with the presence of negative spin polarization at the interface. These findings open opportunities for vdW interface design and applications of vdW-magnet-based spintronic devices at ambient temperatures.

Quasi-1D Electronic Transport in a 2D Magnetic Semiconductor

Fan Wu et al.

Summary: Investigation on electronic transport through exfoliated multilayers of CrSBr, a 2D semiconductor, revealed a pronounced anisotropy along the crystallographic directions. The observed phenomenology and the detection of a 1D van Hove singularity in energy-resolved photocurrent measurements suggest that CrSBr exhibits quasi-1D electronic transport properties, unlike conventional 2D doped semiconductors.

Control of structure and spin texture in the van der Waals layered magnet CrSBr

J. Klein et al.

Summary: Van der Waals magnetic materials consist of atomically thin magnetically ordered layers. In this study, the researchers demonstrate nanoscale structural control in the layered magnet CrSBr by using an electron beam, which could lead to the creation of spin textures and quantum magnetic phases.

Ultrathin ferrite nanosheets for room-temperature two-dimensional magnetic semiconductors

Ruiqing Cheng et al.

Summary: A new approach utilizing confined van der Waals epitaxy has been developed to synthesize air-stable semiconducting cobalt ferrite nanosheets with thickness down to one unit cell, exhibiting high Curie temperature and strong dimensionality effect. The addition of room-temperature magnetic semiconductors to the two-dimensional material family opens up possibilities for novel applications in computing, sensing, and information storage.

Electrical and thermal generation of spin currents by magnetic bilayer graphene

Talieh S. Ghiasi et al.

Summary: The coupling of bilayer graphene with the 2D interlayer antiferromagnetic CrSBr enables the active generation of spin currents in graphene, benefiting ultracompact spintronic devices. The strong spin-charge coupling in graphene and the high sensitivity of spin transport to the adjacent antiferromagnet's magnetization allow for the read-out of a single magnetic sublattice.

Coexistence of structural and magnetic phases in van der Waals magnet CrI3

Jaume Meseguer-Sanchez et al.

Summary: The translation discusses the coexistence of monoclinic and rhombohedral crystal phases in CrI3, leading to its magnetic behavior change between bulk and thin layers. The authors' findings reveal the continuous transformation of different magnetostructural phases in CrI3 at different temperatures.
