Integral use of rice husks for bioconversion with white-rot fungi

Lina Rocio Davila-Giraldo et al.

Summary: This study evaluated different biotechnological alternatives for the utilization and transformation of rice crop by-products through the use of white-rot fungi. The results showed that wild fungus strains can transform rice husks into products with added value and a variety of bio-transformed products were identified. This is of great importance for addressing the environmental problems caused by the accumulation of rice crop by-products and developing new resources.

Global Diversity and Updated Phylogeny of Auricularia (Auriculariales, Basidiomycota)

Fang Wu et al.

Summary: Auricularia, with a worldwide distribution, was studied through morphological and multi-gene phylogenetic analyses, leading to the identification of 10 new species among the 37 recognized. Discussions on morphological traits, ecological habits, geographical distributions, and a comparison data summary with an identification key were provided for these species.

The lignocellulolytic effect from newly wild white rot fungi isolated from Colombia

Cristian Javier Zambrano-Forero et al.

Summary: Lignocellulose, the most abundant natural polymer on earth, is the main component of agro-industrial waste with no added value. Seven strains of white rot fungi from Ibague, Colombia were isolated, and some showed high production of ligninolytic enzymes. The fungi were evaluated for their ability to degrade agricultural waste, with proposed biotechnological potentialities for each strain based on the results.
