Significance of Harmonic Filters by Computation of Short-Time Fourier Transform-Based Time-Frequency Representation of Supply Voltage

M. S. Priyadarshini et al.

Summary: The nonlinear characteristics of power electronic-based loads in a power system contribute to the injection of harmonics and other power quality disturbances, affecting the power supplied to consumers. Flexible AC transmission system (FACTS) devices and custom power devices are used for effective power transfer. Filters also play a significant role in distribution systems. This paper analyzes the supply voltage in the time-frequency domain to understand variations in signal strength and explores the importance of filters in mitigating or reducing harmonics.

Fast Hopping Discrete Sine Transform

Vitaly Kober

Summary: Discrete sine transform (DST) is widely used in digital signal processing for applications such as image coding, spectral analysis, feature extraction, and filtering. Short-time (hopping) DST is effective for time-frequency analysis and processing quasi-stationary data. Hopping DST is computed on fixed-size windows sliding over the signal with an integer hop step, offering improved performance compared to conventional sliding and fast DST algorithms.

Recursive Algorithms for Computing Sliding DCT With Arbitrary Step

Vitaly Kober

Summary: Discrete cosine transform (DCT) is a popular transform in digital signal processing due to its high energy compaction. Sliding transform can be used to estimate spectrum of nonstationary processes by calculating the transform on a fixed-length window of the signal.
