Robust spectrum sensing against malicious users using particle swarm optimization

Noor Gul et al.

Summary: The issues in the wireless channel, such as multipath fading, shadowing, and hidden terminal problems, limit the sensing abilities of the single user in a CRN. Cooperative spectrum sensing (CSS) is more suitable in this case. However, various malicious users (MUs) pose threats to the performance of CSS. This work considers the CSS performance in the presence of different types of MUs and proposes a particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm for detecting and removing false sensing data before the final decision.

A Review on Reinforcement Learning enabled Cooperative Spectrum Sensing

Thi Thu Hien Pham et al.

Summary: With the increasing number of devices joining the network, there is a greater demand for new radio frequency spectrum bands. Cognitive radio networks aim to solve this issue by providing secondary users with opportunistic access to licensed frequency bands. Cooperative spectrum sensing is introduced to overcome fading and shadowing problems, allowing users to share their sensing results and make decisions cooperatively. Reinforcement learning enables users to choose actions that conserve time and energy while guaranteeing good performance. This paper provides an overview of existing reinforcement learning-based cooperative spectrum sensing schemes and discusses challenges and future directions.

Smart Full-Exploitation of Beamforming Fusion assisted Spectrum Sensing for Cognitive Radio

Sarra Ben Chaabane et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a blind spectrum sensing method called Beamforming Fusion assisted Spectrum Sensing (BFSS) in a narrowband context. By jointly exploiting beamforming algorithms, a channel with angles of arrival (AoA) is utilized to make decisions about the detection of users on frequency resources. The proposed method is blind and does not require knowledge of noise power, channel estimation, and source signal. A state-of-the-art comparison of SS methods using beamforming is provided to validate the contribution in a shallow SNR region.
