A Study of a Two Storage Single Product Inventory System with Ramp Type Demand, N-Phase Prepayment and Purchase for Exigency

Jagadeesan Viswanath et al.

Summary: This model analyzes a two-warehouse inventory system for deteriorated items with ramp-type demand and constant deterioration rate. It introduces a rental warehouse to handle excess items after the own warehouse reaches its capacity. Retailers are incentivized to prepay their purchase cost in installments to ensure order guarantee. The model suggests strategies to satisfy customers during stock out periods, including emergency purchases and immediate satisfaction after replenishment.

Integrating Replenishment Policy and Maintenance Services in a Stochastic Inventory System with Bilateral Movements

Yonit Barron

Summary: This article studies an inventory control problem with a primary warehouse and a subsidiary warehouse with different capacities. Two types of customers are considered: individual customers arriving at linear rates governed by a Markov chain and retailers arriving according to a Markov arrival process. The article presents a triple-parameter band policy for managing the primary warehouse and seeks to determine optimal thresholds that minimize the expected overall cost. The article provides equations and analysis for managers to derive these optimal thresholds.

Material stock analysis of urban road from nighttime light data based on a bottom-up approach

Fei Zhao et al.

Summary: In recent years, there has been a growing attention to the dynamics of material stock in the ecosystem. This study developed a road material stock estimation model based on OpenStreetMap road network data and nighttime light images, and applied it to Kunming. The results showed the top three stocks are stone chips, macadam, and grit, with a total weight of 380 million tons. The proportion of asphalt, mineral powder, lime, and fly ash is similar, and the unit area stock decreases with lower road grade, with branch roads having the lowest unit stock.

SUSTAINABLE INVENTORY MANAGEMENT BASED ON ENVIRONMENTAL POLICIES FOR THE PERISHABLE PRODUCTS UNDER FIRST OR LAST IN AND FIRST OUT POLICY

Vikash Murmu et al.

Summary: This paper examines the impact of a holistic, quality and sustainability-based inventory policy on perishable items, considering concerns over carbon footprints and global economic crises. The study compares the first-in-first-out (FIFO) and last-in-first-out (LIFO) dispatching policies and investigates the effect of quality on sales, as well as the importance of preservation techniques such as controlled atmosphere storage and modified atmosphere packaging. The findings highlight the profitability of the FIFO model, the rigidity of prices, and the decrease in profit with limited flexibility. Backlogging does not affect prices and order quantities, but reduces average yield due to carbon emission taxation.

Optimal inventory strategies for an imperfect production system with advertisement and price reliant demand under rework option for defectives

Prerna Gautam et al.

Summary: Every industrial sector emits carbon emissions during production, which is a major concern for environmental practitioners. This study proposes an inventory model to handle defective products through a rework strategy. The model considers energy usage, cost of carbon emissions, and optimizes production batch size and selling price. Graphical optimization is performed using Mathematica 11.3.0, and a comprehensive sensitivity analysis is conducted to provide managerial insights and robustness to the model.
