Adaptive Fuzzy Fault Tolerant Control for Robot Manipulators With Fixed-Time Convergence

Mien Van et al.

Summary: This article aims to address three major issues in fault tolerant control (FTC) for robot manipulators: improving the response time, reducing tracking errors and chattering, and increasing the robustness of FTC; reducing the requirement of robot dynamics knowledge for model-based FTC; achieving global fixed-time convergence of the system. An adaptive fuzzy backstepping control is proposed to enhance system tracking performance without the need for complete prior knowledge. The fixed time convergence is mathematically proven and the performance is demonstrated for a PUMA560 robot FTC.

Adaptive Finite-Time Containment Control of Uncertain Multiple Manipulator Systems

Lin Zhao et al.

Summary: This article presents a containment control strategy for multiple manipulators with uncertain parameters. The strategy utilizes a novel distributed adaptive backstepping approach within the finite-time control framework. To enhance control performance, finite-time command filters (FTCFs) are used to prevent complexity explosion, and the filtering errors caused by FTCFs are compensated using an error compensation mechanism (ECM). The proposed virtual control signal, control torque, and adaptive updating law guarantee the convergence of set tracking errors in finite time in the presence of uncertain parameters. The method is completely distributed as it only requires local information. Simulation examples are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

Global Finite Time Active Disturbance Rejection Control for Parallel Manipulators With Unknown Bounded Uncertainties

Van-Truong Nguyen et al.

Summary: This article presents a global finite-time active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) scheme for tracking control of redundant parallel manipulators with unknown bounded uncertainties, which combines ADRC and global finite-time control for high accuracy trajectory tracking control. The proposed approach removes the condition in the original ADRC that the derivative of the uncertainties is required to be bounded, and utilizes an extended state observer for real-time estimation of total uncertainty. The scheme shows fast convergence to a semi-global finite-time stable equilibrium and superior tracking control performance, with advantages including uncertainty rejection, ease of implementation, robustness, chattering-free operation, high precision, and no need for prior knowledge of bounded uncertainties. Simulation results validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
