Optimizing Service Areas in 6G mmWave/THz Systems with Dual Blockage and Micromobility

Elizaveta Golos et al.

Summary: The modern 5G millimeter wave (mmWave) and future terahertz (THz) radio access technologies heavily use beamforming and face similar challenges with non-elastic traffic and blockage phenomena. Multiconnectivity is effective in improving service reliability by dynamically handing over sessions between the two technologies. This article investigates association strategies in collocated mmWave/THz deployments and evaluates the impact of antenna arrays. Results show that accepting sessions to THz base stations is preferable with multiconnectivity, but extending THz base station coverage has minimal performance impact.

Pointing Error Modeling of mmWave to THz High-Directional Antenna Arrays

Mohammad Taghi Dabiri et al.

Summary: This letter provides an analytical framework for quantifying and evaluating pointing errors in high-frequency millimeter wave and terahertz communication links. The channel of a point-to-point communication link between unstable transmitter (Tx) and receiver (Rx) is characterized, and the probability density function (PDF) and cumulative distribution functions (CDF) of the pointing error are derived as a function of the antennas' pattern. The accuracy of the analytical expressions is verified through Monte-Carlo simulations, and the system performance is studied.

A Multi-Task Learning Model for Super Resolution of Wireless Channel Characteristics

Xiping Wang et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel super resolution model for generating channel characteristics data, utilizing multi-task learning and residual connections in convolutional neural networks. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed model achieves excellent performances in mean absolute error and standard deviation of error, outperforming other state-of-the-art deep learning models. Ablation study further proves the necessity of multi-task learning and techniques in model design. The contribution of this paper lies in its potential to reduce the workload of simulation or measurement, thus assisting channel modeling, network optimization, positioning, and other wireless channel characteristics related work.

Data-Driven Beam Tracking for Mobile Millimeter-Wave Communication Systems Without Channel Estimation

Yuan Ma et al.

Summary: Fast beam tracking is crucial for ensuring the reliability of millimeter-wave communication during user mobility. A data-driven approach is proposed to optimize beamforming vectors based on real-time measurement data rather than prior knowledge. Numerical analysis demonstrates that this method can achieve reliable tracking performance in a shorter time compared to traditional schemes.
