Cyclic Testing of Earthquake-resilient Steel Joints with a Replaceable Buckling-restrained Link

Qing Jiang et al.

Summary: This study introduces a novel earthquake-resilient steel joint with a replaceable buckling-restrained link (RBRL) and validates its performance through experiments and modeling. The results show that the RBRL can achieve the expected performance, while joints with welded web connections are prone to welding tear failures, and the connecting plate thickness and stiffeners have minimal impact on performance.

Experimental study on dynamic response and residual mechanical behavior of SRC columns under repeated lateral impacts

Lei Zeng et al.

Summary: This paper reports the impact behavior and residual mechanical properties of seven steel reinforced concrete (SRC) columns with built-in L-shaped steels under multiple impacts, and investigates the influences of impact height, stirrup ratio, and axial compression ratio on their performance. The results show that the columns have good impact resistance, and the residual mechanical properties are improved with the increase of stirrup ratio.

Quasi-static and fatigue testing of earthquake-resilient steel joints with replaceable buckling-restrained links

Yulong Feng et al.

Summary: This paper introduces the concept of buckling-restrained flanges into traditional steel beam-column joints to improve seismic and resilience performance. Through experimental testing, it was found that the proposed joints exhibited excellent hysteresis, fatigue, and resilience performance. The research also highlighted the importance of joint design and restraint system in influencing the performance of the joint.

Cyclic loading tests of earthquake-resilient prefabricated steel cross joints with different FCP connections

Ai-lin Zhang et al.

Summary: Prefabricated steel structures are promoted in construction due to their advantages in greening, industrialization, and informatization of buildings, with a focus on earthquake resilience. Low-cyclic loading tests were conducted to study the seismic performance of five earthquake-resilient prefabricated steel beam-column cross joints (ERPCJs). Results showed that ERPCJs with reasonable parameters have excellent bearing capability and seismic behavior, with the potential for achieving earthquake-resilient requirements quickly. Reducing connecting bolts can enhance energy dissipation and ductility of the joint, but may also decrease initial stiffness and ultimate bearing capability.
