Lanthanum-Cerium-Modified Nickel Catalysts for Dry Reforming of Methane

Mahmud S. Lanre et al.

Summary: The catalyst MNi0.9Zr0.1O3 (M = La, Ce, and Cs) was prepared using sol-gel preparation technique for the dry reforming of methane reaction. The addition of yttrium improved the catalyst's activity and methane and carbon dioxide conversion values. The physical and chemical properties of the catalyst were analyzed, revealing a low surface area and the formation of monoclinic phase zirconium.

One-step synthesis of highly active and stable Ni-ZrO2 catalysts for the conversion of methyl laurate to alkanes

Huiru Yang et al.

Summary: A series of Ni-ZrO2 catalysts with different Ni loading were prepared and evaluated for methyl laurate conversion. The 10Ni-ZrO2 catalyst showed the smallest Ni crystal size, the highest atomic content of surface Ni0, surface oxygen vacancy and Ni-O-Zr interfaces, and exhibited the highest activity and stability in the conversion of methyl laurate to alkanes. The catalyst also demonstrated wide applicability for transforming crude oils into alkanes.

Decoupling the effect of Ni particle size and surface oxygen deficiencies in CO2 methanation over ceria supported Ni

Ziwen Hao et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of surface oxygen vacancies and Ni particle size in the CO2 methanation over CeO2 supported Ni nanoparticles. Results show that surface oxygen vacancies significantly enhance the catalytic capacity, while the reaction over Ni/CeO2 exhibits structure-sensitivity to Ni nano-particle sizes and formate is identified as the critical intermediate for CH4 formation. Additionally, long-term evaluations reveal temporary activity loss in small Ni nanoparticles due to carbon deposition.

Hydrogen Yield from CO2 Reforming of Methane: Impact of La2O3 Doping on Supported Ni Catalysts

Ahmed Abasaeed et al.

Summary: The study found that adding La2O3 to nickel-based catalysts supported by modified zirconia and alumina during dry reforming of methane can improve catalyst surface area, dispersion, and basicity, leading to higher hydrogen yields and reduced coke formation. The choice of La2O3 loading should depend on the type of oxide support.
