Dietary Use of Methionine Sources and Bacillus amyloliquefaciens CECT 5940 Influences Growth Performance, Hepatopancreatic Histology, Digestion, Immunity, and Digestive Microbiota of Litopenaeus vannamei Fed Reduced Fishmeal Diets

Ramon Casillas-Hernandez et al.

Summary: The accelerated expansion of shrimp farming requires alternative protein sources to replace fishmeal. This study evaluated the potential of soybean meal and poultry by-product meal to replace fishmeal in shrimp feed and found that they can be partially substituted without adverse effects on shrimp growth and welfare. The addition of specific supplements further improved the growth performance and health of the shrimp, and the results are valuable for developing sustainable aquaculture.

Role of Different Growth Enhancers as Alternative to In-feed Antibiotics in Poultry Industry

Kazi Rafiq et al.

Summary: The excessive and indiscriminate use of antibiotics in the poultry industry has led to serious consequences, including threats to human and animal health and the accumulation of residues in the environment. Therefore, finding alternatives for safe meat and eggs production has become of paramount importance, leading to the increased use of biological products in poultry production.

Effects of dietary Bacillus subtilis supplementation and calcium levels on performance and eggshell quality of laying hens in the late phase of production

Jing Wang et al.

Summary: The study aimed to assess the effects of dietary Bacillus subtilis supplementation and calcium levels on performance, eggshell quality, intestinal morphology, and CALB1 mRNA level of laying hens in the late phase of production. Results showed that increasing dietary calcium level from 3.5% to 4.5% and adding Bacillus subtilis enhanced intestinal calcium absorption, improved eggshell quality, and reduced feed conversion ratio in older laying hens. The combination of 4.0% calcium level and Bacillus subtilis supplementation was found to be most effective in enhancing eggshell quality.

Systematic Review of the Interaction between Nutrition and Immunity in Livestock: Effect of Dietary Supplementation with Synthetic Amino Acids

Laura Montout et al.

Summary: This study provides a synthesis of research on the interactions between synthetic amino acid supplementation and immune response to infectious diseases in livestock, focusing mainly on poultry and the beneficial effects of methionine, threonine, and arginine supplementation. The most described immune mechanisms associated with synthetic amino acids supplementation were directed against intracellular pathogens, highlighting the potential for improved management of infectious diseases in livestock through nutritional manipulation.

Effects of Bacillus subtilis on Production Performance, Bone Physiological Property, and Hematology Indexes in Laying Hens

Xinyu Zou et al.

Summary: The study found that Bacillus subtilis could increase marketable egg production, protect bone health, alter the distribution of phosphorus, increase estrogen but decrease interleukin-1 and tumor necrosis factor-alpha concentrations. These results suggest that Bacillus subtilis could be utilized as a health promotor to mitigate overproduction-induced inflammation and associated bone damage in laying hens, improving both egg production and overall welfare.

Effects of Bacillus subtilis PB6 supplementation on productive performance, egg quality and hatchability in broiler breeder hens under commercial farm condition

Elham Darsi et al.

Summary: The study found that adding Bacillus subtilis PB6 significantly improves egg production, quality, hatchability, egg haugh unit, and faecal score in broiler breeder hens. Additionally, Bacillus subtilis supplementation increased total cholesterol levels and decreased the heterophil to lymphocyte ratio in breeders' serum.
