Baomin Fan et al.

Summary: This study extracted green components from Passiflora edulia Sims shell for alleviating the corrosion of mild steel during acidic pickling. The anticorrosive efficacy of the green components for mild steel in 1 M HCl medium was evaluated using various methods. The results showed that the green components exhibited a temperature- and concentration-dependent inhibitory effect on mild steel, with the inhibition efficiency increasing with the increase in dosage. Elevating temperature also improved the anticorrosive capacity. Electrochemical assays indicated the simultaneous inhibition of anodic and cathodic reactions over mild steel with the green components, which increased the charge transfer resistance due to adsorption.
