Short- and Mid-Term Outcomes of Endovascular Stenting for the Treatment of Post-Thrombotic Syndrome due to Iliofemoral and Caval Occlusive Disease: A Multi-Centric Study from the French Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiovascular Imaging (SFICV)

Arthur David et al.

Summary: This multi-center study evaluated the results of endovascular treatment for post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS) caused by iliocaval occlusive disease. The study found that endovascular stenting achieved high technical success, low complication rate, and improved clinical outcomes.

Comparison of endovascular strategy versus hybrid procedure in treatment of chronic venous obstructions involving the confluence of common femoral vein

Long Piao et al.

Summary: This study compared the outcomes of endovascular alone vs endovascular with additional endophlebectomy procedures in patients with chronic venous obstruction extending into the femoral confluence. The results showed similar patency rates between the two treatment groups, but the endovascular strategy had the benefit of fewer postoperative complications, shorter procedure duration, and shorter hospital stay.

Combination of antiplatelet and anticoagulant therapy, component network meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials

Summary: This meta-analysis supports the existence of different ischemic-bleeding balances among direct-acting oral anticoagulants (DOACs). Long-term aspirin treatment as part of the anticoagulant and dual antiplatelet regimen provides no ischemic benefit but may increase bleeding risk.

Utilization of and Outcomes Associated with Intravascular Ultrasound during Deep Venous Stent Placement among Medicare Beneficiaries

Sanjay Divakaran et al.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the temporal trends, practice variation, and outcomes associated with the use of intravascular ultrasound (US) during deep venous stent placement among Medicare beneficiaries. The results showed that intravascular US was frequently used during the procedure, with an increase in utilization from 2017 to 2019. Its use as part of the procedural strategy was associated with a lower risk of adverse outcomes after the procedure.

Use of the VENOVO™ and Sinus Obliquus™ venous stents in the treatment of non-thrombotic or post-thrombotic iliac vein lesions - Short-term results from a multi-centre Asian cohort

Tjun Y. Tang et al.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the short-term patency and symptomatic relief gained using Bard Venovo and Optimed Sinus Obliquus stents in the endovascular treatment of NIVL and PTO from two Asian tertiary vascular centers. The results showed excellent primary patency rate without stent fractures, significant clinical improvement, and low device-related complications. Longer follow-up is needed to assess the long-term performance of dedicated venous stents.

Effect of thrombophilia on clinical outcomes of chronic post-thrombotic patients after iliofemoral stenting with nitinol venous stents

Adam M. Gwozdz et al.

Summary: The presence of thrombophilia does not affect clinical outcomes after deep venous stenting for post-thrombotic syndrome. Using the same anticoagulation protocol, patients with and without thrombophilia had similar stent patency rates and rates of reinterventions to maintain stent patency. Therefore, thrombophilia should not be a factor in determining eligibility for iliofemoral venous stenting.

Mid-term patency of iliac venous stenting for post-thrombotic syndrome

Adriana M. Ferreira et al.

Summary: This study includes 1008 patients, and the results show that iliac venous stenting in post-thrombotic syndrome presents durable mid-term patency rates and significant symptomatic improvement. The technical success rate was 96%, with primary and secondary patency rates of 98.2% and 100% at 30 days, 78.1% and 94.5% at 12 months, and 66.3% and 89.4% at 36 months, respectively.

Summary: The study assessed the use of a new venous stent in treating iliofemoral venous outflow obstruction. Results showed that the stent was effective with a high primary patency rate at 1-year follow-up, but longer follow-up and larger cohorts are still needed.
