The Efficiency of Perfluorohexanone on Suppressing Lithium-Ion Battery Fire and Its Device Development

Chuang Liang et al.

Summary: Currently, lithium-ion batteries have excellent performance but still pose significant fire and explosion risks. Therefore, fire extinguishing is crucial, and the performance of the fire extinguishing device determines the effectiveness. This study developed a plunger-type perfluorohexanone fire extinguishing device with improved key components. The device's fire extinguishing efficiency and environmental adaptability were verified using a 271 Ah lithium iron phosphate battery in extreme environments. The results showed good fire extinguishing efficiency and environmental adaptability, with no re-ignition and the safety valves remaining closed.

Study on the minimum extinguishing concentration of C6F12O for extinguishing synthesis gas flame of lithium-ion battery

Zhiyue Han et al.

Summary: In this study, a liquid-phase input end is added to the cup burner to test the fire-extinguishing effect of C6F12O on lithium-ion battery syngas. The minimum extinguishing concentration (MEC) of C6F12O is determined, and the physical and chemical effects of C6F12O on lithium-ion battery syngas fire are quantified using the perfect stirred reactor (PSR) model. The results indicate that the fire-extinguishing effect of C6F12O on lithium-ion battery fire is mainly due to its physical cooling effect.

Experimental Study on the Efficiency of Dodecafluoro-2-Methylpentan-3-One on Suppressing Large-Scale Battery Module Fire

Lin Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the fire suppression of battery modules in energy storage stations. The thermal runaway process of a single cell is found to have four stages, with an incubation period in the second stage suitable for early warning and fire extinguishing. It is also discovered that thermal runaway propagation in battery modules is more aggressive and risky than in single cells. Furthermore, the fire extinguishing agent C6F12O exhibits good suppression and cooling effects in inhibiting thermal runaway propagation in battery modules.

Summary: The study investigated the extinguishment of propane flames by using the halon-replacement fire-extinguishing agent C6F12O in normal gravity. Increasing the volume fraction of the agent led to an increase in total heat release of the flame, while weakening the reaction kernel at the base eventually resulted in flame blow-off.
