Potential optical molecular switch: Lithium@cyclo[18]carbon complex transforming between two stable configurations

Zeyu Liu et al.

Summary: Doping lithium atom in the C-18 carbon molecule can effectively regulate its optical properties, with the ability to control the state by switching the Li atom position through an external electric field. The two configurations of Li@C-18 exhibit distinct electronic structures and optical nonlinear properties, making transition easy to occur at ambient temperature.

Unraveling the Symmetry Effects on the Second-Order Nonlinear Optical Responses of Molecular Switches: The Case of Ruthenium Complexes

Pierre Beaujean et al.

Summary: This study investigates the relationship between molecular symmetry and NLO responses, as well as the impact of Ru-II/III oxidation states on amplitude and depolarization ratios. The results demonstrate that NLOphores with different molecular symmetries exhibit similar response characteristics, and oxidation of Ru-II/III leads to significant changes in the beta(HRS) response.

Theoretical insights into single-pole quadruple-throw (SP4T) inorganic nonlinear optics molecular switch of Na(HCN)3Na: from superalkali to superalkalides

Zhi-Jun Wang et al.

Summary: The characteristics of a single-pole quadruple-throw (SP4T) nonlinear optics (NLO) molecular switch with alkalide and electride's characteristics, Na(HCN)(3)Na, were studied in this paper. It was found that an oriented external electric field can drive the transfer of excess electrons between two sodium atoms, resulting in a transition from an electride-like superalkali to four superalkalides forms with considerably larger values. The increase in the nonlinearity of the switch from off to on forms indicates that Na(HCN)(3)Na is a high-performance candidate for SP4T NLO switch.

Triple-ring tubular MB36 (M = Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba) with threefold aromaticity

Wen-Juan Tian

Summary: The modification of alkaline-earth metals to the energy unfavorable triple-ring B-36 results in a family of stable triple-ring tubular MB36 (M = Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba). These structures exhibit high energy favorable properties, chemical stability, and the possibility of experimental synthesis, supported by large energy gaps, high formation energy, and highly negative NICS values.

Resonant Optical Nonlinearity and Fluorescence Enhancement in Electrically Tuned Plasmonic Nanosuspensions

Yinxiao Xiang et al.

Summary: Controlled orientation and alignment of rod-shaped plasmonic nanoparticles can dynamically modulate the nonlinear optical response of gold nanorod suspensions, enhancing fluorescent signal detection and revealing optical nonlinearity effects. The combined action of optical force-induced nonlinearity and electric field-induced nanorod orientation leads to new possibilities for engineering nonlinear plasmonic soft matter and detecting low-concentration fluorescent samples.

Switching from an electride-like molecule to the molecular electride K-F6C6H6 driven by an oriented external electric field

Yin-Feng Wang et al.

Summary: The study focuses on a single molecular switch with different forms exhibiting different electride features, revealing that potassium-atom-doped K-F6C6H6 molecule can be transformed into a molecular electride under the influence of an external electric field. The research indicates that K-F6C6H6 is a promising candidate for a multiple-response nonlinear optics switch.
