Redistribution process of precipitation in ecological restoration activity of Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica in Mu Us Sandy Land, China

Summary: This study focused on the widely replanted Pinus sylvestris var. Mongolica (PSM) in Mu Us Sandy Land (MUSL) and examined the distribution of precipitation, soil moisture, sap flow, and deep soil recharge (DSR) in shallow soil layers. The results showed that the restoration process of PSM changed the precipitation distribution, with some infiltrating downward as DSR and some being stored in the shallow soil. The increase in vegetation led to increased soil water storage (SWS) capacity in the PSM plot. However, the reduction of shallow SWS and DSR in the PSM plot could be detrimental to the long-term development of PSM forest.

Spatiotemporal evolution and driving forces of ecosystem service value and ecological risk in the Ulan Buh Desert

Summary: A clear understanding of the spatiotemporal evolution and driving factors of ESV and ERI is essential for sustainable ecosystem management. The results showed an overall increase in ESV and a decrease in ERI. There was a negative correlation between ESV and ERI, with a low value-high risk relationship. The interaction between distance to a highway and annual precipitation had the strongest impact among the influencing factors.

Prediction of spatial distribution characteristics of ecosystem functions based on a minimum data set of functional traits of desert plants

Summary: The study constructed minimum data sets (MDS) of functional traits for woody (wMDS) and herbaceous (hMDS) plants, and used them to predict the spatial distribution of carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus cycling in ecosystems. The results showed that the MDSs can replace the total data set (TDS) in predicting ecosystem function, and non-linear models RF and BPNN can accurately predict the spatial distributions of carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus cycling.

The PV industry has a crucial role in reducing China's carbon emissions and achieving societal carbon neutrality by 2060.

Carbon dioxide fluxes of cyanobacterial crusts and underlying soil under different precipitation patterns in the Ulan Buh Desert, China

Temporal and Spatial Variations in the Leaf Area Index and Its Response to Topography in the Three-River Source Region, China from 2000 to 2017

On Change of Soil Moisture Distribution With Vegetation Reconstruction in Mu Us Sandy Land of China, With Newly Designed Lysimeter

The results show two main moisture recharge processes in the PSM forest soil, with noticeable deep soil recharge (DSR) occurring in the summer of 2018. The annual evapotranspiration in the PSM forest responds to annual precipitation fluctuations and has evolved over the years to regulate water consumption.

Spatio-temporal variation characteristics of NDVI and its response to climate on the Loess Plateau from 1985 to 2015

Summary: This study evaluated the spatial-temporal variation characteristics of NDVI on the Loess Plateau and its response to climate using data from GIMMS NDVI 3g and five climatic factors. The results showed an overall upward trend in vegetation at the annual scale, with severe degradation in certain regions. The correlation between NDVI and atmospheric pressure was negative, while it was positive for the other four climatic factors. The study also found different impacts of climatic, topographical, and geographical elements under different land uses on the spatial distribution of NDVI.
