The Individual and Combined Effect of Nanoparticles and Biofertilizers on Growth, Yield, and Biochemical Attributes of Peanuts (Arachis hypogea L.)

Ahmed M. Abdelghany et al.

Summary: A two-year field experiment was conducted to investigate the impact of specific nanoparticles and biofertilizers on the growth, yield, and biochemical attributes of peanuts. The results showed that mycorrhiza significantly increased seed yield and biological yield, while Ca+B nanoparticles had the greatest improvement in multiple growth and yield attributes. These findings suggest that nanotechnology and biofertilization can contribute to environmentally friendly and progressive farming.

Soil and foliar applications of zinc sulfate and iron sulfate alleviate the destructive impacts of drought stress in wheat

Md Abdul Mannan et al.

Summary: Water deficit is a major abiotic stress that severely affects wheat growth and production, especially in arid environments. This study examined the effectiveness of soil application or foliar treatment with zinc sulfate and/or iron sulfate in mitigating the negative impacts of drought stress on winter wheat. Results showed that the exogenous foliar applications were more effective in enhancing drought tolerance, especially when both micronutrients were combined. These findings suggest that this approach could be beneficial for wheat-growing regions in reducing the losses caused by drought stress.

Reevaluation of calcium source for runner-type peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.)

Rui Yang et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effectiveness of different calcium sources on peanut production by conducting field experiments in the southeastern United States. Results indicated that mined gypsum may be the most effective calcium source, and liquid calcium sources were less effective compared to solid ones. The study provides valuable information for calcium nutrient management in peanut cultivation.

Comparative physiological and transcriptomic analyses reveal key regulatory networks and potential hub genes controlling peanut chilling tolerance

He Zhang et al.

Summary: This study compared the physiological and transcriptional differences between two peanut genotypes under chilling stress and found that the inhibition of photosynthesis was mainly caused by stomatal factors. Chilling-tolerant genotypes adapted to chilling stress by inhibiting the accumulation of ROS and enhancing CAT and APX activities. Additionally, an analysis of physiological indices and the RNA-Seq database revealed that genes in key modules were significantly enriched in pathways related to the oxidation-reduction process.

Impact on plant productivity under low-fertility sandy soil in arid environment by revitalization of lentil roots

Mohamed A. Abd El-hady et al.

Summary: Root activator and phosphorus fertilization have a positive impact on the growth and yield of lentils, especially at high levels of both treatments. However, under high levels of root activator, the recommended phosphorus level can be reduced without significant effects on yield and quality. Therefore, the simultaneous application of root activator and phosphorus fertilizer in low-fertility soil can enhance the growth and yield of lentils, while also providing economic and environmental benefits.

Conventional versus Nano Calcium Forms on Peanut Production under Sandy Soil Conditions

Mohamed Hamza et al.

Summary: The study revealed that the treatment of gypsum plus conventional Ca(NO3) achieved the highest yield and best quality traits for peanuts grown in sandy soil conditions. Traditional treatments using gypsum and calcium nitrate were found to be the most effective in improving seed, oil, and protein yields.

AGRONOMIC RESPONSES OF DIVERSE BREAD WHEAT GENOTYPES TO PHOSPHORUS LEVELS AND NITROGEN FORMS IN A SEMIARID ENVIRONMENT

M. A. Swailam et al.

Summary: Increasing phosphorus levels led to a substantial increase in wheat yield, with differences observed among cultivars. 'Sakha-95' and 'Sids-14' performed best under high phosphorus levels, showing the most vigorous growth and enhancements in yield components. Nitrogen forms had a marginal effect on grain yield and attributes, with ammonium-containing fertilizers resulting in higher values for certain traits.

Physio-Biochemical and Agronomic Responses of Faba Beans to Exogenously Applied Nano-Silicon Under Drought Stress Conditions

El-Sayed M. Desoky et al.

Summary: Nano-silicon application proves to be an efficient novel approach in mitigating the deleterious impacts of drought stress on field crops. During two-season field studies, it was found that foliar application of nano-silicon significantly improved physiological and biochemical attributes of faba beans and enhanced crop water productivity. Drought stress negatively affected various parameters and seed yield-related traits, but the application of nano-silicon, particularly at a concentration of 1.5 mM, effectively alleviated the impact of drought stress and improved overall plant performance.
