In Situ Proteomic Analysis of Herbicide-Resistant Soybean and Hybrid Seeds via Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization-Mass Spectrometry Imaging

Yue Yin et al.

Summary: Transgenic soybean, with the largest cultivation area globally, poses ecological risks through gene flow to wild relatives. This study used MALDI-MSI and UPLC-Q-TOF-MS to analyze protein changes in transgenic soybean, wild soybean, and their F2 hybrid. Specific differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) in wild soybean were identified, while F2 seeds exhibited characteristics of both parents. Sucrose synthase and stress response-related DEPs were differentially expressed, potentially contributing to greater adaptability in offspring. MALDI-MSI showed potential as a visual method for transgenic soybean analysis.

Utilising waste from soybean processing as raw materials for the production of preparations with antioxidant properties, serving as natural food preservatives-A pilot study

Joanna Tkaczewska et al.

Summary: This study developed technologies for producing protein hydrolysates from soybean bran using different enzyme preparations and evaluated the influence of these preparations on the antioxidant activity and quality of the hydrolysates. The results showed that all hydrolysates had high antioxidant properties, but the ability to scavenge free radicals varied depending on the method of preparation. Hydrolysates obtained from digestion with Alcalase had the highest protein and polyphenol content, as well as high antioxidant properties.

Nutrient digestibility and endogenous protein losses in the foregut and small intestine of weaned dairy calves fed calf starters with conventional or enzyme-treated soybean meal

I Ansia et al.

Summary: The experiment aimed to compare the effects of a soybean meal with an enzymatic treatment (ESBM) versus a standard soybean meal (SBM) on foregut and small intestine digestion in weaned dairy calves, as well as to estimate endogenous losses of crude protein (CP) in the small intestine. The results showed that the inclusion of ESBM improved the efficiency of ruminal microbial protein synthesis per digested kilogram of organic matter and CP, and increased CP and AA absorption in the small intestine despite a greater proportion of undigested dietary protein entering the duodenum.

Regulation of Intestinal Inflammation by Soybean and Soy-Derived Compounds

Abigail Raffner Basson et al.

Summary: This passage discusses the role of environmental factors, particularly diet, in the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel diseases, with a focus on the Westernization of diet and its contribution to IBD. It also highlights the increasing research on the anti-inflammatory properties of soybean and its bioactive compounds in animal models of IBD.
