Geodynamics of the Central Tethyan Belt Revisited: Inferences From Crustal Magnetization in the Anatolia-Caucasus-Black Sea Region

V. Teknik et al.

Summary: We interpret the present structure and tecto-magmatic evolution in the Central Tethyan belt by calculating the depth to magnetic basement and average crustal magnetic susceptibility. Our results show the variability of crustal magnetization in different regions and the poor correlation between ophiolites and magnetization anomalies in the Tethyan realm. We also identify unknown oceanic fragments and mafic intrusions using regional magnetic characteristics.

Large-scale geological structures of the Egyptian Nubian Shield

Zakaria Hamimi et al.

Summary: The integration of potential field- and structural data in the Egyptian Nubian Shield allows for tracing large-scale geological structures on the surface and subsurface. The Northern Eastern Desert is dominated by younger E-W and NE-SW extensional structures controlled by the Cadomian Arc evolution. In the Central Eastern Desert, NW-SE and WNW-ESE trends prevail, influenced by the Najd Fault System and dissected by a younger NE-SW shearing trend. The South Eastern Desert exhibits compressional and extrusion-related structures influenced by the Oligocene-Miocene Red Sea-Gulf of Suez rift fractures.

Combined analysis of remote sensing, gravity and magnetic data across Moyar Bhavani Shear Zone, Southern Granulite Terrane (SGT), India: appraisals for crustal architecture and tectonics

Shuva Shankha Ganguli et al.

Summary: This study presents a comprehensive analysis of remote sensing, gravity, and magnetic data in the MBSZ region in southern India to understand its crustal architecture and tectonics. The results show strong density inhomogeneity and a linear magnetic anomaly zone in the MBSZ, with the northern part dominated by low magnetic anomalies and the southern part dominated by moderate to high anomalies. Integration of potential data and remote sensing reveals a dominant structural trend that aligns with the MeSZ trend. The joint gravity and magnetic modelling suggests that the MBSZ is characterized by a mixture of moderate to high-density rocks.

Aeromagnetic and Radiometric Data Interpretation to Delineate the Structural Elements and Probable Precambrian Mineralization Zones: a Case Study, Egypt

Khalid S. Essa et al.

Summary: This study focused on using joint interpretation of aeromagnetic and radiometric data to identify and describe structural elements and mineralization zones in the Gebel Umm Tineidba and its surroundings in the Eastern Desert of Egypt. The results indicate the depth ranges of deeper and shallower structures, and the main trends of these structures affect the distribution of mineralization zones.

Insights into crustal architecture and tectonics across Palghat Cauvery Shear Zone, India from combined analysis of gravity and magnetic data

Shuva Shankha Ganguli et al.

Summary: The Palghat Cauvery Shear Zone (PCSZ) in the Southern Granulite Terrane (SGT) has attracted attention in the past few decades for its potential in understanding Precambrian tectonics. A recent gravity-magnetic study provided insights into the crustal architecture and tectonic evolution, hinting at the presence of a high-density batholith and fossilized oceanic crust. The study also identified N-S verging compressional tectonics that led to the closure of an ocean, reflected in gravity and magnetic maps.

Crustal structure and subsidence history of the Mannar basin through potential field modelling and backstripping analysis: Implications on basin evolution and hydrocarbon exploration

Ashutosh Singh et al.

Summary: The study revealed a hyperextended continental crust in the Mannar basin, with two stages of rifting occurring between 130-115 Ma and -100-65 Ma, resulting in minor crustal stretching. The southern part of the basin experienced higher crustal stretching, potentially leading to increased accommodation space and sediment influx. Late Cretaceous intrusive volcanism in the area influenced geothermal gradient and hydrocarbon generation.

Utilizing the analytical signal method in prospecting gravity anomaly profiles

Khalid S. Essa et al.

Summary: This study explores a new fast inversion algorithm for gravity anomaly profiles, evaluating target structures' depth, amplitude coefficient, and shape parameter. Efficiency and stability were tested through various scenarios, with validation from raw gravity data from Slovakia, Cuba, and India. The new suggested method was found to be applicable for gravity exploration, with parameters significantly associated with geologic and economic characteristics.
