Comparing the research efforts of the UK and Egypt, Egyptian researchers have made notable contributions in finding solutions through natural products. The incidence of A. baumannii infections has been increasing in Egypt, especially with alarming levels of antibiotic resistance. Studies in the UK have shown earlier adoption of high-throughput technologies for tracking and detecting A. baumannii and its resistance compared to Egypt.

The results showed that certain old antibiotics have the potential to effectively treat severe infections caused by multi-drug resistant gram-negative bacteria, but further clinical studies are needed.
