Frailty in CKD and Transplantation

Elizabeth C. Lorenz et al.

Summary: As the population ages, frailty becomes a critical issue in the health of older adults, including those with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Frailty is common in CKD patients and is associated with various adverse outcomes. Further research is needed to determine the effectiveness of interventions for reducing frailty in improving health outcomes in CKD patients.

Home-based exercise for people living with frailty and chronic kidney disease: A mixed-methods pilot randomised controlled trial

Andrew C. Nixon et al.

Summary: Frailty is associated with negative health outcomes in CKD patients, and there is a need for evidence-based targeted interventions. This pilot RCT showed the possibility of progressing to a definitive RCT, as long as recruitment and retention challenges are addressed. Preliminary evidence suggests that home-based exercise may be beneficial for individuals living with frailty and CKD.
