A Multiactive Bridge Converter With Inherently Decoupled Power Flows

Soumya Bandyopadhyay et al.

Summary: Multiactive bridge converters (MAB) are a popular research topic for integrating multiple renewable sources and loads, with the ability to reduce power conversion stress, improve efficiency, and increase power density. This article introduces a MAB converter configuration with a rigid voltage source on the magnetizing inductance of the transformer, allowing for inherently decoupled power flows and independent power flow control tuning of the ports. A laboratory prototype of the proposed configuration shows completely decoupled control loops with fast transient response, making the operation and design of MAB converters more feasible for various applications.

An adjustable gain three port converter for battery and grid integration in remote location microgrid systems

P. Rajan et al.

Summary: Battery-grid integration (BGI) is crucial for microgrid systems, and the demand for multiport converters (MPCs) with wider buck-boost voltage gain capability is inevitable with the increased penetration of distributed energy resources. This paper proposes an energy cushion multiport converter (ECMPC) for integrating batteries with a single-phase AC microgrid (SPACMG), which has bidirectional AC and DC ports, as well as a DC output port for common usage. The proposed system is managed for minimal energy wastage through a minimal wastage energy management system (MWEMS) and controlled by an ALTERA field-programmable gate array processor.

Review on non-isolated DC-DC converters and their control techniques for renewable energy applications

Farhan Mumtaz et al.

Summary: With the increasing need for energy consumption to meet global demands, hybrid renewable energy generation is being studied as an alternative to conventional methods. While renewable energy sources have drawbacks, such as variability in photovoltaic and wind systems and high costs for fuel cells, researchers are focusing on using power electronic devices like DC-DC converters to address these issues and improve efficiency. The selection and integration of appropriate DC-DC converters, along with control techniques like PID, SMC, MPC, SSM, and FLC, play a crucial role in enhancing the overall performance of power systems.
