The menstrual cycle phase impacts the detection of plasma cells and the diagnosis of chronic endometritis in endometrial biopsy specimens

Emily Ryan et al.

Summary: This retrospective cohort study found that the menstrual cycle phase has an impact on the detection of plasma cells. Plasma cells are more likely to be found in the follicular phase compared with the luteal phase, and in the early follicular phase compared with the late follicular phase. The density of plasma cells is also higher in the follicular phase group. Further studies are needed to determine the optimal timing of biopsy for standardized diagnosis.

Quantifying CD138+cells in the endometrium to assess chronic endometritis in women at risk of recurrent pregnancy loss: A prospective cohort study and rapid review

Michael P. Rimmer et al.

Summary: Quantifying CD138+ cells by immunohistochemistry in women with a history of recurrent pregnancy loss is helpful to diagnose chronic endometritis and predict subsequent reproductive outcome. A cut-off value of 4-6 cells/hpf offers the best predictive accuracy with higher scores predicting worse reproductive outcome.

Interaction Between Chronic Endometritis Caused Endometrial Microbiota Disorder and Endometrial Immune Environment Change in Recurrent Implantation Failure

Peigen Chen et al.

Summary: Investigating the interaction between chronic endometritis (CE) induced endometrial microbiota disorder and endometrial immune environment change in recurrent implantation failure (RIF), it was found that CD4 T cells and macrophages exhibited significant differences in abundance between CE and non-CE patients. The endometrial microorganisms in CE patients, particularly Phyllobacterium and Sphingomonas, played a role in regulating immune cells by interfering with carbohydrate and/or fat metabolism. The microbial disorders in CE endometrium led to increased synthesis of lipopolysaccharide, potentially affecting Th17 and Th1/Th17 ratio.

Identification of sixteen novel candidate genes for late onset Parkinson's disease

Alessandro Gialluisi et al.

Summary: This study identified 28 disrupting variants in 26 candidate genes for PD, 16 of which have not been associated with PD before. It was demonstrated that the co-inheritance of multiple rare variants in the 26 genes may predict PD occurrence in about 20% of patients, with high specificity. The data highlighted the genetic landmarks of late onset PD and the importance of rare variants in the genetics of sporadic PD.

A single-cell type transcriptomics map of human tissues

Max Karlsson et al.

Summary: Advances in molecular profiling have enabled the creation of high-resolution single-cell type maps of human tissues, combining single-cell transcriptomics analysis with spatial antibody-based protein profiling. This technology allows researchers to explore the expression of human protein-coding genes and determine the number of elevated genes in different cell types, facilitating comparisons with bulk transcriptomics data. The analysis reveals distinct expression clusters corresponding to cell types with similar functions within and between organs.
