The capacity of primary health care facilities in Saudi Arabia: infrastructure, services, drug availability, and human resources

Quds Al Saffer et al.

Summary: Primary healthcare in Saudi Arabia is facing challenges in distribution and services, with urban areas having more facilities but lower densities, and limited availability of 24x7 services. There is a heavy reliance on paper-based medical records and a lack of psychiatrists and nutritionists in PHCCs. The study emphasizes the need for policy considerations in PHC accreditation, 24x7 operation in rural areas, and improvements in e-health.
