Maximization of CO2 Capture Capacity Using Recent RUNge Kutta Optimizer and Fuzzy Model

Ahmed M. Nassef et al.

Summary: This study combines artificial intelligence and metaheuristics techniques to determine the optimal operating parameters for carbon dioxide (CO2) capture. The aim is to maximize the CO2 capture capacity. By integrating fuzzy modeling with the RUNge Kutta optimizer (RUN), the impact of carbonation temperature, carbonation duration, and H2O-to-CO2 flow rate ratio is analyzed. The proposed method shows superior performance compared to other optimization methods, resulting in a significant increase in CO2 capture capacity.

Environmental Assessment of a Diesel Engine Fueled with Various Biodiesel Blends: Polynomial Regression and Grey Wolf Optimization

Ali Alahmer et al.

Summary: The environmental effects of biodiesel blends made of different vegetable oils on diesel engine emissions and noise were assessed through a series of tests. A prediction framework and a regression model optimized by the grey wolf optimization algorithm were developed to determine the optimal engine speed and fuel type for reducing emissions and maximizing engine performance. The experimental and optimization results showed that biodiesel blends generally had lower emissions of unburned hydrocarbon, carbon dioxide, and carbon monoxide compared to diesel fuel, but higher nitrogen oxide emissions. The noise level produced by biodiesel, especially palm biodiesel, was lower than that of pure diesel. The proposed PR-GWO model exhibited remarkable predictive reliability and could be used to predict and maximize engine performance while minimizing exhaust and noise emissions.

A review on latent heat energy storage for solar thermal water-lithium bromide vapor absorption refrigeration system

Devendra Raut et al.

Summary: Refrigeration is an important part of human comfort, but it consumes nearly 20% of the commercial industry's total energy consumption. The use of fossil fuels for refrigeration systems contributes to global warming, while refrigerants also contribute to global warming and ozone layer depletion. The vapor absorption refrigeration system with water-lithium bromide has the potential to eliminate harmful residuals and carbon emissions. Solar energy, although intermittent, can be used with latent heat storage technology to ensure continuous operation. This review provides insights into suitable phase change materials, storage tank designs, and performance enhancement techniques for integrating latent heat storage with vapor absorption refrigeration systems.
